Cats The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

Thanks Sue, yes it's Jadey and Keesha.

I keep my EXIF data turned off because I haven't got my lenses coupled with the Leica so the EXIF shows all kinds of inaccurate f/stops.

For these photos I'm using the 50mm lens, on the M8 it's an equivalent 67mm.

Thanks, James, I thought it might be a 50mm. I thought the M8 was full frame for some reason. Odd.

Our 3 Week Anniversary With Abagail

3 weeks ago I wandered into the local Animal Pound and met Li'l Abagail. Actually, at that time she was Li'l Jane Doe. Gale, the Animal Control Officer, had scooped her up 2 days previous and the little classic tabby was crammed into an equally little cage, unnamed and unexamined. I was in a bit of a blue study, 1 1/2 weeks past the death of my sweet Calhoun, and I was easy pickin's. I was at the pound less than an hour before walking out with my soon-to-be Abagail Rose, Gale & Co. asking me few questions and having fewer answers to mine... they were less interested in Mr. Right and would happily settle for Mr. Right Now, an unfortunately common scenario for overpopulated animal havens.

Abagail Rose is a true sweetie, about 7 months old and 5 lbs. She's as energetic and inquisitive and charming as all kittens are. A couple days after bringing her home she developed a severe upper respiratory infection, but a vet visit and 2 vials of Clavamox later she's doing wonderfully.

The first three photos taken with the Panny LX5, the last with my new LX7.

Yeats, she's got such a sweet face and lovely coloring especially with her classic tabby markings. Good on you for rescuing her, and her for helping to ease your loss of Calhoun. Great shots!

Thanks guys! My heart really goes out to the older, scruffy looking strays at the pound, my preference would have been to adopt one of the ones that most other people pass over... but my girlfriend really wanted a kitten, and Abagail was there which met Her Ladyship's criteria.

Abagail Rose is just beautiful, and I'm so glad she has gone to someone who "gets" cats. So many people get a cat and have no idea about them at all. Congratulations, Yeats :)

Warning: Extreme cuteness follows !!!

Thanks, Sue. Abagail's a real dollface, a very good girl, and we just love her to pieces.

The real hero these last 3 weeks has been Yeats Jr. He was missing his brother Calhoun terribly, nosing around in places he doesn't normally go but Calhoun did, then finally acting rather listless for a couple of days. When I brought Abagail home, Jr. was cautious; his territory was being invaded by another cat, and though my girlfriend was confident he would be tolerant, I wasn't so sure. He'd been Big Cat on Campus for quite a while.

It happily turns out that I needn't have been worried. After some initial caution by both Yeats Jr. and Abagail, they've been getting along wonderfully. She follows him everywhere, and especially in her first week observed him closely. I believe she was looking to him to see how she should act in her new home. Yeats Jr. has been very kind and accommodating, really amazingly so, even when she clearly goes too far and ticks him off. I'm just proud to burstin' of my big guy! :D
