One of you NEX shooters please start us off here. Over the next month or so more changes will be happening to Serious Compacts, so for now we can use this thread as the NEX Image forum. Of course I hope everyone will continue to use our Image Threads found in the Photography forum, as well.

Whenever possible please include at least which NEX you were using for your photograph. You know some of us need to know.;)

OK I'll make a start...here we GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

I've had mine a short enough time that I think anything decent I've shot with it has already been shown around here somewhere. But here's a small subsection just to represent the breed and help kick the thread off! A couple of landscapes and a few street shots. The 3rd and 5th are with the 16mm and the rest are with the kit lens, all on the Nex 5 (although they'd be indistinguishable if they'd been with the Nex 3!):

Super shots there Ray!! I have seen the top two before but not the others. Great stuff.
As yours Andy. I'd seen the last two which are great, but I don't know about the Zeiss shots, which just get me more excited for the coming 24 f1.7 which should really help these camera's realize their potential. Not that I dislike the current lenses, but that one could be pretty special...

Thanks you guys. I think it was imbued with Steetshooter's magic dust.

I will tell you that that screen in the black and white mode made everything look like a million bucks!

Gotta love this image file/sensor.

I think that looks like your magic dust BB - Shooters is different as is very evident in his post that follows yours. Clearly the mix of your magic dust and the Nex are a good pairing. Perhaps the X-100 will be too, but I don't know if it will be wide enough for you - you seem to like that 24mm equivalent at the wide end of the LX5 and with the 16 on the Nex.

I've NEVER yet shot with the screen in B&W. Although I'm a purist in exactly nothing else, it just seems wrong. When I was shooting B&W back in the film days, I wan't composing in B&W on the old SLR viewfinders. Somehow it seems wrong to start now. But I assume if you set the screen to B&W and leave the camera set to shoot RAW, you still just get a RAW file, right? It doesn't somehow switch over to jpeg shooting to give you a B&W image?

Right, shooting in RAW you still get color files. I had tried my Leica X1 with the lens set to black and white for a while but returned to color... Don had his set up this way - black and white - and it was breathtaking. At first when I saw the RAW files, I was disappointed. I just had time this afternoon to finally delve into them. He and I both took a bunch inside our house but I don't have those so we'll have to wait for Don for those. I have two more on Flickr and will try a few more when I have the chance. You Nex folks do have yourselves a very cool and comfortable to carry camera. I did like the wheel for the f stops, the way the camera felt in my hand and how easy it was to use - plus that screen...that is a great screen and it was fun to flip up, too.

BB,

Could it be ... are you succumbing to the wonders of the NEX :) If you can believe it, I've actually sold mine as it wasn't being used while I shoot with my A33. My logic is that I'll buy one before my next vacation as it is a fantastic travel camera but the lack of lenses makes it my second choice to the A33.

Kevin, next time you can buy the NEX5 or perhaps they'll have the next version by then? No, I am not succumbing at this point. I make no promises about the future, since I am a camera evolutionist!:D

P.S. Time to edit that signature line, Kevin.

I like these Ray - for lots of reasons and think the selective color works very well and in a subtle way. I didn't have a chance to try that when I had Don's that day. It could have been dangerous.:D

All of these images have a very smooth, silky look to them which I think worked out really well, too. They could be stills from a movie...or that's what my imagination tells me.:drinks:

Thanks BB, but it had nothing to do with the Nex. It was the selective colorization tool in the new version of Silve Efex Pro that I was playing around with. Although the IQ in such low light you can attribute to the Nex...
