DAY SIX - Silver September 2013

Still sandal weather.

Busy weekend - day trip to Chicago today, another trip in the works for tomorrow. I'm itching to view everyone else's work but I'll have to catch up as catch can! My submission for today is one of the oddest photos I've ever taken, compared to what I saw through the viewfinder. This is the side of a building across from the Metro Union Station. It was reflecting blue sky when I looked at it, but this is basically what came out of the camera. I just did a quick "guided edit" in Photoshop Elements to take out some purple glints in the upper left hand corner. I have no idea where all these "Christmas lights" came from - they looked like straight lines and I thought they were part of the window frames! Now I want to see the building at night and see if it lights up!. I was going for pattern, and that's what I got!

That is sooo cool.

Walking around Old Town in Lansing, Michigan, for once I looked up! :)
Love it! Great detail - you even got the date! Great sky. You know, I'he spent years slavishly trying NOT to exxagerate perspective by shooting close to a building. I just started doing it this summer, and it's FUN!

Taken on September 6, the day on which I had to go down to my car mechanics for some minor work done. While waiting, I went for a walk....and passed by this fine Kenmore truck at the local truckstop. And something about the shape of its rear-view mirror got me. I only had one 'serious compact' with me, the small one in my pocket, but it did the job -

A classic, great photograph. The tones - the shadows - the framing - the sense of the photographer's present - a lot of small intangibles that all add up - into something outrageously cool.

Thank you. It was such a simple shot, but I kept going back to it. Something about it clicked for me. I like that feeling.
