One from the final batch taken with the LX7...

Great shot! But this is not a locust, this is an annual cicada (Tibicen linnei).

OOPS! I've spent too many years away, and reading of this year's coming of the locusts, I made the wrong assumption. No excuse, but there it is. Thank you for the correction.

Long, hot day. The Dimage Z3 is officially dead, may it rest in peace. Cellphone photo edited (defaced?) in cellphone:
Orphan's a stray who needed an unexpected amount of medical care. He spent most of the summer in the room behind the garage or boarded at the vet's. He's in the spare room for a week, and hopefully the other cats will get used to his scent and won't eat him alive when we let him out. I couldn't begin to clone out the distracting background, so I went whole hog with the "draw on the negative" approach!"

Since the "Reply With Quote" function is not currently, umm, functioning for me...

@ snkenai - WAY COOL!

@ Marlof - well-spotted, sir! Very creative, I love it!

@ Luke - I really like the B&W treatment, it makes the image IMO.

@ Susan - my condolences for the demise of the Dimage. :( God bless you for taking care of that sweet-looking kitty.

I find it enormously distracting when entire images (or entire posts) are quoted so I'm glad it stopped working for a while !

While it is nice to know that people like images enough to comment on them I also find the image in quotes very distracting, Perhaps for the next challenge we could have an image only thread and a thread for quotes and comments .

In fact I think even this post is adding to the confusion ! :)

Ditto. I totally agree that duplicating images is distracting & unnecessary - I simply delete the images when quoting

I like the quotes, and including the images. I don't like having to go back and see what the replier was talking about. It's right there in the quote.

Yep,I can see that makes sense. But just a second ago I thanked the image in a quoted post . This is certainly not the first time either.
It would be nice if quoted images appeared as thumbnails. Is that possible ?

This is not the big year here, but a few Locust are around, that as a kid, we called "Jar Flies". Went looking for an empty shell, this morning, but only spotted this one as it flew by me, and landed well above my head. Camera on collapsed light tripod, held above the head, weaving in the air, on 2 second timer,

Fabulous photo! Wonderful sharpness on the cicada. I'm jealous. I can't get the dead ones on the ground that sharp!
