Canon FINALLY got a chance to shoot a little with the EOS-M

For me, there is one psychological difference when using the two cameras. The E-PL5 is a beautifully implemented example of its breed, whereas the M just makes you want to slap someone for being so thoughtless.

I dunno. I was shooting with it tonight and really enjoyed it. I find the EPL5 dial hard to turn with the flippy LCD right there. The EOS LCD controls are sweet for shooting control. It is slow though. Single shot to shot speed and AF means thinking about your shots more than just spraying around.

The touchscreen is surprisingly responsive. I find myself able to change settings very quickly with this camera, but it might help that I've been shooting other digital Canons for years now. I updated the firmware and the autofocus seems to be pretty great now. I can tell you that it certainly focuses fast than my 100mm on the 5DMK2. You are right in that it slows you down, but not by much, and I see this as a good thing. I'm really blown away at the build quality of this thing and the quality of the images, and all for $300.

Based on what I've seen on here, and other sites, I'd probably buy an EOS M if they were at the prices that you seem to be paying in the US. In the UK, it doesn't seem to be available for anything much under £450-£500 (about 700-800 USD, I think) with the 22mm lens.

Dang, that's unfortunate. I wonder how much it would be to ship one over to you...

It's a very kind thought, but I don't think that I can be bothered with all the import stuff. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

Also, despite my bold assertion in my previous post that I would "probably buy" one, when I stop and really think about it, I just know that I've got too many cameras already! (It's a well-known condition on forums such as this...;))
