Compact Comparison of LF1 to D-Lux6 (same as LX7)

I'm waiting now on the Leica 'C', the LF1 equivalent, so when that arrives I'll be able to do my first Pana/Leica compare of the same camera (that's what people say, that they're the same).

Someone asked me how these cameras compare when the images are viewed at 100 percent edge-to-edge. The difference is big enough that pixel-peeping isn't required. Check the corners especially:

Very interesting.

Being the owner of the D-Lux6's Lumix twin, the LX7, I'm not surprised - the f/1.4 lens which both cameras share is, quite simply, stunning.

Thanks for posting this.

I know that some people claim all kinds of ridiculous things regarding Leica's versions of Panasonic compacts (different lens coatings, different colors in JPEG etc.) but when I personally compared LX3 to D-Lux 4 it was clear that it's the same freaking camera. The only difference I spotted was that in Auto-ISO mode Leica always selected low ISO and low shutter speed (say, ISO 200 and 1/20) while Panasonic tried to select more usable shutter speeds (ISO 400 and 1/40). I vastly prefer the latter because sharp and noisy is always better than blurred and noise-free.

The differences are usually that Leica will put in a better lens and their own version of the software. Also you usually get something like Lightroom bundled in the kit, hence more money (including paying for the name!) I had a LF1 and sold it but have another on order (Freebie) for my trip to Florida. Hopefully in the bright daylight the LF1 will perform OK at low ISO settings.
