Micro 4/3 Smallest m43: Panasonic GM1+12-32 f/3.5-5.6 for 699 Euro

I agree. GM1 looks good, but e-pl5 is cheaper and more usable w/ IBIS, grip & evf. Here is a size comparison w/ nex 3 and e-pm2:

That's sweet looking! I might have to ditch the 17/1.8 for this!

It'd make a nice combo with a "black EPL5."

The lenses are in Panasonic lens map that was released early this morning:

Hmmm ... the GM1 doesn't seem so small now, compared to the EPM2.

Is that a notation for a 150/2.8 on the bottom of the chart? Yes, m4/3 needs a fast tele. But I was hoping for a 100/2.

m4/3 also needs a small superwide pancake. Something like a 9/2.8 would be awesome.

I'll bet it feels much smaller in person. GM1 also has two custom settings, and an AF switch.

I've not used it, and not likely to buy it, but I do admire it.

I have a Q, so that comparison is useful for me. I'm surprised, actually. It appears the GM1 is the same size as the Q but with a nice "same as GX7" mu43 sensor. All other compromises aside, that makes for a very small and very useful package.

Meh. It's in the same no man's land the LX7 occupies, even though it has a bigger sensor. My view - too small for a general use camera, way too big with its kit lens for a shirt pocket. Neither fish nor fowl... :(

Funny thing is, I've seen v. little chatter about the fact that the PL15 seems to have an Ap ring on front.

What if future Panny primes had an aperture ring??

I just hope that with lenses like this one and the Unicorn 43/1.2 that you don't have to use the aperture ring if you don't want to. I wouldn't be surprised if Olympus cameras don't support the function anyway, which was the case back in the days of the 4/3 DSLRs.

Makes me wonder if Leica is going to "red dot" a M43's camera off the Panasonic assembly line like they did with the LX series?

OK...So....Panasonic GM1 or Fuji X-A1? The fuji here in the UK is £499 for the kit (APS-C Senor!) and the GM1 is £629 for M43 sensor. OK the sensor is the same as the GX7 so it should be pretty good but from what I have seen the X-A1 file quality is pretty damn good!

So which would you get?

I have the GF1, 15mm Oly cap, 17mm f2.8 pancake and the 20mm pancake. I'm tempted to replace the GF1 but not sure which to go for. The annoying this is that at the moment the GM1 only seems to be available in black and I would love the silver/black edition.

I'm probably picking up a XA1 this weekend! I took some sample photos and the file quality is indeed pretty darn good even just shooting JPG!

My only downside with getting a Fuji is that I have to start a new collection of lenses!!

I think they're pretty different! For me, the GM would be as-light-as-you-can-go without going into a compact like an RX100. You could use the kit zoom, O15 cap or the 20. Or the upcoming PL15, which I bet will be gorgeous. I'd see going out of the house with only one of those lenses at any given time. I think the XA1 is little bit more about doing the larger system thing with a shoulder bag.
