Sony OMG!!! How good is this lens for NEX!!!!

WOW!!! Now this aint no help for my recovering LBA (lens buying addiction).

"I don't need a m4/3, I don't need an m4/3, I don....."

Great results, though the camera's getting a little less compact though.... ;)

It's OK, Mark - you can still buy the NEX. It's not a m4/3, so you're home free! Oh, wait...you're talking about the Vivitar lens that Andy just happens to be using on his NEX.:D

What mount is your Vivitar 24mm f2.8? Minolta MC mount, as your list implies?

My Vivitar is actually a Canon FD mount so I have the FD to NEX adapter.

Thanks for the positive noises, and Mark Buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one buy one

Thanks, I will definitely inspect it closely. I got it on Ebay of course, the photos of the lens looked great but oily blades would be hard to spot in photos.

I've owned the Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 before in M42 and liked it a lot, so was really hoping I'd bag this one (a 36mm-equivalent f/2 is right in my wheelhouse!) I ended up bidding a somewhat irrationally high amount, but luckily the final auction was much lower than that. The seller listed the lens as '1:2' instead of 'f/2', so I think there weren't that many watchers.

EDIT- There's another 24mm f/2 Nikon mount right now, currently $51 with 13 hours left (330546514252). Obviously not my sale-

I ended up with two Vivitar 28/2 lenses (FD mount), both quite cheaply as they were stuck wide open. On the first it was possible (after removing the mount) to unscrew the rear lens unit and directly access the blades to free them up and get them working again. The second copy doesn't look any different but the rear lens unit doesn't seem to want to unscrew. I don't know if it is just stuck or there was some kind of design change.

Maybe if the seller re-lists as having stuck blades, I will buy it again to try to repair. ;) I had looked into it a bit, but didn't want to damage the lens in any way since the seller agreed to refund.

So to bring back an old thread, I just won a Rikenon 24mm f/2.8 (M42 mount) on the Bay. I think many of the Rikenon lenses were made by Japanese OEM's just like the Vivitars, so hopefully this one will be good too.
