Sony Non-Sony Optical Viewfinder

Some old Nikon and Canon ones show up on the bay.
The older Canon 28mm has a lever for parallax.
This will be handy due to the offset you have in height with the adapter.
They sell for around $100.00 USD.

ClearViewer home

I mentioned in another thread that I got the Clearviewer yesterday. It is kind of clunky but it does a good job of magnifying the LCD and making it easier to manual focus. I wish Sony would make a good electronic viewfinder!

Janis, I gotta tell ya... I looked at that thing and truth be told...
It scares me. It probably works ok but it scared me in a not so nice way.....

Praytell your experience with it.

Don, I knew it would not be your thing and don't think most street photogs would need or want it. But for me, so used to a good viewfinder and not all that steady at handholding, it really helps me both see and keep the camera steady. It seriously undermines the sleek lines of the NEX, of course, but it is functional and I don't think it will harm the camera in any way. I like to use a Sigma 105 macro and it helps me to manual focus. Also, I can fold it out of the way and still flip the screen any way I want. So far I like it, but need to play with it more. Note: since it attaches to the tripod mount you cannot use the tripod with it, tho they do make a different mount for cameras that have a hotshoe centered above the LCD. Also, when it's attached, the camera does not sit flat because the screw sticks out on the bottom. It is not elegant but it's functional and the design will probably be tweaked eventually. I hope I am not hijacking this thread. If so maybe BB will move it where it should go!

I do it's a terrible shame Sony doesn't provide a good detachable electronic viewfinder on a camera with a sensor this good.

Janis,
I'd walk the streets with you anytime.... With that thing on the back of your camera, no one would mess with you....
I fear no evil for Janis art with me....

Voigtlander makes optical viewfinders, as do Leica and Zeiss. Not exactly inexpensive, but there's quite a variety available.

Don, you are too funny! Somehow I doubt you are afraid to walk down the street ever!
Deirdre, thanks, I will check those out those viewfinders, but I am still hoping for a miracle from Sony when they release the next NEX.
