Cut off point

:hmmm:….hey what are ya saying'? I'm still 'compact'….well vertically and mentally. Anyway I'd like to think of myself less as a noun and more an adjective:
"kəmˈpakt/ 1. closely and neatly packed together; 2. dense"

I'm definitely not compact. But many do consider me to be dense.

As time passes, I find myself less interested in full-on DSLRs and their big lenses. This is a personal thing that's been evolving for a number of years and it's why I was drawn to this site and mu-43.com. But it's the community that keeps me around.

I can still carry the big gear just fine - but see no reason to. I've been holding onto my Pentax APS-C gear for a number of reasons. But I may be getting close to the point of letting it go. I don't use it much any longer.

LOL, Rajiv you sound just like me... and I haven't let mine go yet either. Its not worth much anymore, my K-5, so I am nearly at the point of saying WTH, keep it and just take it out on occasion. Its certainly not my "main" camera anymore... actually... I dont think I have a main camera :)

Yeah, maybe keep the K-5, the DA 18-135 WR and the 55-300 WR - and sell off everything else (I have quite a few lenses and two other bodies).

It's a photo forum where the emphasis is definitely on compacts. I think it's more a matter of not letting it get out of hand rather than nipping it in the bud.

Darn Steve don't go selling your Pentax gear….as I'm selling off my K5, 18-135WR, DA55-300, D-FA100WR Macro and Sigma 30/1.4 as we speak. I find it all too serious and none too compact….:whew: kept it on topic).

Holy Schmidt......I was thinking of selling off the roughly the same kit myself. But I may just keep it to keep me from buying something else that will disappoint me.

Suggestion #1: it's Serious because the quality of the camera and it's output is greater than average in it's class, be that mirrorless, DSLR, bridge or fixed lens.
Suggestion #2: it's Compact because it is smaller than average in it's class, be that mirrorless, DSLR, bridge or fixed lens.

If it mets both criteria simultaneously, it's a Serious Compact.

Simples :)

That probably rules me out! But I stumbled here by accident and am being kept on out of kindness, I suspect!
