Sony Rx100m3

A few first ones with the RX100M3 which I just picked up. OOC JPEG as RAW is not supported yet. Love the EVF and the 24mm wide.

we got em in store now here in Australia, the EVF is awesome and the IQ is good. price is a bit hard to swallow though

Had a play with the Mk3 yesterday and the EVF is really good!! I prefer it to my GX7!!

Interesting... do you mean that you prefer the EVF of the RX100 Mk3 to the EVF on your GX7, or do you mean that you prefer the RX100 Mk3 camera over the GX7?

The Mk3 certainly has my attention, as I've been (and still am) incredibly impressed with my 'now-ancient' Mk1.

Just picked up my Mk3.. however I feel I made a big mistake.. Great camera, Great image quality etc, etc and etc.. however no touch screen.. how could Sony have of missed that on their new version??? I would think the Sony Engineers would have included that feature.. all Smartphones and Tablets and their competition in the Camera world have it in the new models.. I have been using EPL-5, GM-1 and GF6 which all have the MODERN up to date touch screens which allows you to touch your focus point and fire away.. I learned to like it.. then I get the Mk3 and no such thing.. I really miss that feature. so hard to pick a quick focus point without that feature.. I should have known better.. or am I just missing how to pick a quick focus point on the Mk3.. unbelievable how Sony could have missed that feature.. I bet the Mk4 has it.. just blowing off steam but I didn't realize how much I would miss that feature until I purchased the Mk3..
Mr. Doug..
If you can help me pick a fast and I mean real fast focal point on the RX series without the touch screen focus point feature, please advise.. :)
Thanks much..

The fastest way would be focus and recompose. If you set the middle button to AF/MF toggle you can focus, then hit the middle button to lock it, recompose and then the metering will adjust before you shoot.

Hope it works for you. The only problem that I encounter is that I occasionally forget to toggle the AF back ON again after making a focus-recompose shot. However, that problem is definitely in the 'idiot-user-error' category... :)
Yes, it works OK.. but nothing compared to my latest Panny and Oly cams.. even my 120S has touch screen.. I got so used to using the touch screen as well as on the iPad and Samsung phones it seems with no touch screen on the RX 100 mk3 is like using a 1960 rotary dial phone.. especially when picking a focus point and reviewing and expanding images.. I'm sending it back.. I see lots of reviews and one the consistent Cons is no touch screen. I agree.. Oh, well.. I thought I could live with it when I purchased it.. amazing how spoiled one can get.. :)

That's a pity - but, of course, there's no point in using a camera with which you don't 'gel'. For me, touch-screens are not a factor - I don't particularly like using them. But that's me.

Good luck with whichever model you choose instead.
