More from the NX300+30/2

Just one of the many ways that Kent, WA, USA, pays tribute to its heritage as a major hops growing region, which was long ago chased away by ravaging aphids to eastern Washington state.

Our own backyard hops are thriving quite nicely nowadays.

Anyone else that has this camera keep hitting the video button? I try to be cognizant of my thumb placement when I've got the camera at the ready by my side, which is usually when/how I accidentally engage the video button. I'm thinking of changing or disabling it, but I'll have to consult the manual to see if that's even possible.

I've managed to inadvertently hit the video button a few times so far. I'm not really sure how my thumb manages to get in that position though!

Happened to me as well and like you I've no idea how I did it. If it's possible to disable the button I intend to do so. I'm a photographer not a videographer and I don't want to waste battery power and card space accidentally doing something I wouldn't do intentionally. It's the only downside I've discovered to a wonderful camera

is it me, but do the samsung colors seem more realistic than fuji and oly? i really like the results from my oly/45 combo, but these colors, and maybe the microcontrast, maybe put the samsung ahead. and seems sharper and more color accurate than the xp1 i shot. thoughts?

btw nick, thats a cracking portrait. i often shoot off center like that as i think its both more interesting and better shoes off the nice bokeh.

Thanks Tony. My impression of the NX 45mm f1.8 is that it is sharper than the Olympus 45mm f1.8, although that isn't because the Oly is not sharp but because the Sammy is quite possibly the sharpest lens I have ever owned. For portraits it can actually be too sharp. The NX300 (and to a slightly lesser extent the NX200 I had before it) is the easiest camera that I have worked with when it comes to consistently getting colours how I like them. Whether the colours are more accurate may be open to debate but I find less of a tendency to over-saturate colours such as light blues and turn them cyan which is a pet peeve of mine.
