Shooting the moon is easier said than done. Especially when its cloudy and your gear is less than it ought to be. Oh what I would give for a 300mm prime. I made do with the Tammy 70-300 and probably ought to have used the Pentax 55-300, though I don't think I would have done better. It was a matter of location and timing.

The first is the red moon as it was, over Newcastle. Its ill-defined, and I'm not sure if that was an effect of the lens, the focus or the fact that the moon is actually being almost totally eclipsed at this time. The second is the moon shot that night, earlier, and faked in PP.
