Christmas Purchases and New Years Resolutions

So just thought it would be interesting to know what you all might have bought in camera gear for the holidays and what the New Year has in store for you.

1- I myself binged on the A6000. I was not looking to upgrade from my NEX-6, but the deals they are running were to good to pass up.

2- And are there any Camera related New Years Resolutions?
Mine is two fold. To get a handle on using flash properly and to start producing higher quality images.

No purchases. I rented a 135mm f2.0 for my Df over Thanksgiving and that could have led to a purchase, but I found I used the 85mm a lot more than the longer lens, so I'm not buying that. Both Nikon and Sigma are rumored to be working on new 135mm lenses so if one comes out and is to my liking I still may eventually pick something up in that short tele - long portrait range. But no pressing need. And no other needs at all. I may pick up either a new upgraded Nikon A or another copy of the old one at closeout prices - depends on what comes down the pike on that...

I'd love to travel someplace new and beautiful this year - that always jump starts my shooting - but no plans to do so at this point...

Can't really call any of these things resolutions. I'd like to get back into a bit better shape, but my lungs haven't been cooperating on that front for the past three years, so they dictate that to some extent...

Good start

No purchases, and so far no resolutions. Looking forward to spending 11 days with my wife's family in Madison WI. I always get good family shots when we go home.

Already been doing things here locally, with a fine couple of days planned with family.

I was not planning on buying anything this year, but the buying bug bit me!

I bought myself the Fuji X100t and the Pentax DA 20-40mm Limited zoom. I gave both to my wife and told her to put them under the tree. So Christmas will be the first time I'll play with either. My resolution? I made it at the beginning of 2014 - and was able to keep it this year: I'll get rid of two cameras for every one that I buy. Right now the only thing I'm looking at might be a replacement for my Fuji XF1 due to it's skiddish autofocus and exposure logic in low light. Potential candidates include the Sony RX100 (either the original or the Mark III) or the Canon G7X.

Christmas gear purchases - none....I'm maxed out....beyond maxed out, really. My wife and I are buying each other gift certificates to restaurants. There's a couple here that are giving out $20 gift cards with the purchase of $100 gift cards. I'm sure their intention is that we keep the $20 reward for ourselves for giving away a $100 gift to a friend, but we're just looking at as saving money at places we would have eaten anyways. I'm going to buy as many as I can afford. I will also continue to look for coupons. The more I save on dinner out, the more I can spend on cameras next year. :D

New Year's resolutions....... reduce, reduce......my wife and I are having a contest to see if I can lose 20 lbs or she can lose 10 lbs faster. Also, I need to get rid of one camera bag and at least one, maybe two cameras.

Luke, I love the juxtaposition of a weight loss contest and buying as many restaurant gift cards as you can afford...

Decided to go back to full frame. Unsure right now as to what make and model .
I really do like my panasonic gear but the GH3 just cant continuous focus well enough for me to remain happy with it.
So DSLR it is. Unless someone could reassure me the GH4 can cut the mustard as far as predictive af is concerned.

I'm just back from a week in Prague where I spent way too much money on an Olympus 17mm 1.8 lens. I kind of feel I have had my Christmas already so am not expecting anything special on Christmas day. I say that because I set my husband a 20 minute, £20 challenge in our local supermarket (Sainsbury's) on Monday night to buy anything within the budget for my Christmas. It would have been fun as I was doing the same thing for him but we were so busy trying to avoid each other in the shop so as not to spoil any surprises we couldn't find each other after the 20 minutes. We ended up spending two hours there and fell out on the way home! His fault totally!!! Merry Christmas!

New Year resolutions ... live [and spend less time in the supermarket]!

I got a Sony Nex 3c and Nikon J1 for £100 the pair with kit lenses, don't need them but at that price well might as well have some fun :) I don't make resolutions New Year or otherwise, I don't keep them for very long.
