Dead Camera Thread

rbelyell (is ya name Tony?)
I forgot to mention with your adaptor`s, this maybe a silly question, but, have you made sure you have a "FOUR THIRDS ADAPTOR" not the "MICRO FOUR THIRDS ADAPTOR" and for "D" lenses?

I ask this because I have had the wrong ones sent to me.

thanks bruce. yes, it is a 4/3 adapter. everything fits together, i just keep getting the user error. the selker said its the chip is probably faulty.

i really liked your gem stone shot with the L1, it really shows off the vibrant color rendition. and yeah, my guess was the main D3/L1 difference was the leica was warmer. thats their profile!

i too really liked the resukts from the older fixed lens Digilux 2, but imo that was the very worse evf ive used before or since. though the sigma sd12 gave it a run. mine was dark and constantly shaky. thats why i sold mine.and yes, name's tony.

Just came back from 3 days of hiking in the Central Oregon Cascades. Used the Olympus E-1 and 12-60mm exclusively. It felt like a bit of a gamble to use a camera that I haven't used that much before... but on the other hand, how else do you get to know a camera's strength and weaknesses :)

There will probably be a thread with more photos at some point - but for now one high point (quite literally :) )

i just bought the 50/2 macro, should get it soon. what do you think of it? i'm also thinking of either the 40-150 or the 50-200 (non SWD)-any thoughts?

I haven't shot that much with the 50mm f2 yet, but so far I can tell it has the slightly more subtle rendering of the older four-thirds digital zuikos (which I prefer to the "punchier" m43 lenses)

I was planning to replace my micro-four-thirds 45mm 1.8 and 60mm macro with it. - But now that they announced the new E-M1 firmware with in-camera-focus-stacking (only supported by the 12-40,40-150 and the 60mm), that plan was foiled and I might keep the 60mm.

I'm always tempted by the 50-200mm, but I usually end up looking at it's weight and then remove it from my shopping basket again :-D

thanks. the non SWD 50-200 is much much lighter and ive read pretty much the same IQ, just not as fast AF, which i dont care about. its pretty cheap too, though one can pick up the 40-150 for under $100usd!

btw, i agree with you anout prefering the 'non punchy' 4/3 lenses. some of the m4/3 rendering looks overprocessed upon download.

ah, I was just about to ask if anyone knew the weight of the older non-swd without the tripod collar.
The only official weight info I can find (even on Olympus' website) is the weight for the older one including collar (1.07kg) and the weight for the new one without collar (995 g).
Would love to know the weight of the older one without the collar :)

I remember the deltas but not the absolutes, however 920g sounds vaguely familiar (995g-75g). The SWD version of the lens wasn't simply the old lens with a new focusing motor.

gorgeous. what do you think of your new 40-150? i got mine yesterday, only took some test photos, but it performs much better than the $35 i paid for it!

Ha, also got mine yesterday. Wanted to take some test-shots today, but so far it's pouring down. It's still early in the day though - might clear up later :)

Nikon D1 with 400/6.3 Tele-Astranar.

I had one of these lenses as a Kid, used it on an Argus/Cosina STL-1000 throughout High School, traded it decades ago.

It is a T-Mount lens, adapters readily available for most mounts. Preset Aperture.

Bought this one on Ebay for $15. Even less than the $35 paid for it in 1971.

It has some reach, and is very light.

Would be perfect for a Kid on the High-School Yearbook that needs to shoot some sports. I used mine for that, and for Airshows.
