Micro 4/3 No Love for the New Panasonic GM5?

Plenty of love for the GM5 AND the LX100!

In fact, springing for both LX100 and GM5 is such a fine idea that I decided to jettison both my E-M5 and E-PL5 (keeping GX7 and E-P5/VF4) and pre-ordered both LX100 and GM5 with 12-32.

I'm so excited about these two new cameras that my relatively long spell of gas-less complacency has finally been busted. Can't wait to shoot with these two little wonders. They definitely fill different roles for me. The LX100 will ride in my day-bag wherever I go. That should meet the majority of unexpected imaging opportunities.

The GM5, GX7, and/or E-P5 with VF-4 may also be packed along, with various lenses, in a separate bag, depending on the occasion and possible need. There are a number of very different imaging scenarios that I prepare quite differently for, thus the variety of gear helps do that. When in tourist mode on tours and walk-arounds I do not like to juggle lenses. Thus, I like two bodies on sling straps for this. Grab whichever body has the lens that meets the need of the moment. That could be GX7 with 12-35 (or LX100) and GM5 with 9-18 or 7-14. With the small, lightweight 45/1.8 or 60/2.8 in the pocket, if I really must go longer (which isn't often). I must say, though, that the GM5 with the little 35-100 sure looks like a nice compact package. If the mini 35-100 is as good a performer, optically, as the 12-32 is.... it will be quite a winner.

We're enjoying an embarassment of imaging riches these days, aren't we! Great time to be a photographic image maker. :dance2:

I'm looking for my RX100 replacement and just saw this one that ticks all the bills for me...except one COST. It's too highly priced for me here in Italy. Must wait for price drop. If I can keep G.A.S. calm.

It's usual Panasonic pricing, since it is new and it is the smallest m43 camera when Oly went for bigger size for e-pl7. It's very expensive esp when Panasonic gx7 with IBIS is selling for $400... Similarly A6000 is selling for $450... You can look for a gm1 also...

Three options, as I see it.

1) Pay the price and be squared away with it.

2) Wait for the price to drop, then go for it..

3) Give it up and do.... some alternative and be happy.

Life is incredibly short, indeed.

Go for the gusto whenever you can, or you may regret it when your time closes in.

I'm considering a GM5 & Panasonic 42.5 to get the IOS. The Pana 42.5 rather than the Zuiko 45mm.
This kit teamed with my Ricoh GR to give me a 28mm/85mm pair.
Might shove a 25mm (50mm equivalent) in the middle later.

Its time I tried some 85mm to get me out of the 28mm only groove.

GM1/GM5 prevented me buying the gr/nikon A:) I have Panasonic 14mm+42.5mm and Oly 25mm to get different combinations and a small kit... You can see my gm5+42.5 shots at m43 showcase at 1st page:
Showcase - Panasonic 42.5 f/1.7
and gm1+Oly 25mm
Showcase - Olympus 25mm f/1.8

I don't know about the 'no love for' issue - I just pulled the trigger on a lightly-used GM5 body which is en route to me - I couldn't resist the combination of tiny size + excellent (theoretically at least) sensor/image capabilities - so I will be checking back in and reporting once the thing arrives and I put it through its paces. And, incidentally, I still find myself missing my old LX7 from time to time, especially its macro capabilities which, alas, I doubt the GM5 will come close to (at least, not with any of my current mu-43 lenses).
