A juvenile House Sparrow

This guy landed on my window sill today and spent several minutes calling for its parents. I was able to approach it closely whilst the glass was between us such that I used the camera to hand, a Panasonic G1 with 45mm, f/2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit. It took fright and flew across the lane when I went outside armed with the 100-300mm lens.

A typical view that the parents would have of a hungry youngster showing how the yellow gape forms a target at which to aim a beak full of food.

As usual there is minimal post processing in Bibble Pro 5 with no cropping of the image from the camera.

kohzema, what a amazing picture!! I also really liked the soft mystery of your first picture.

Dave, your little fellow might be a wren of some sort...I don't know the birds out your way, but the sepia turned out to be a nice touch.

Dave That bag was of mine placed in my flats window grill and this birds have made there nest on that for hatching eggs. We have donated that bag to them now. there is no way to clean that mess :)

Thanks BB, inline attachment turn outs somewhat pixelated for that first picture:)
