Cheers, Jock

Day 12? My day 11 never got off the ground - so two strikes for me already :( Hoping day 12 is better.
I'm really amazed at the photos this year - too many to comment on.

OK, so the weather in northern Vermont is really bad and with the long weekend coming up ski areas are really glum at best. Rainy, warmed up to mid 40s F. Icy and very difficult to walk around. Yuck. So, a shot from where I'm sitting. Geezum, not my favorite subject matter to say the least but the daily quota demands the beast gets fed.
Hoping to get out this weekend.

Coming back from having a haircut, the local plovers were visible. They had 4 babies but sadly only one survived this year, and it's almost full grown. Here's Mum in front of the tree and baby saying "No photos! No photos!"

Nice one Sue....I think the LX100 is great for well lit exterior photos. A bit pants for low light though, I'm finding. (Too much noise). I suspect mine will get swapped later in the year, for what I don't know...

Edit: I originally posted a downsized SOOC jpg but the RAW conversion gets much closer to how I remember the scene.
BTW: I'm not too sure about the tree in the foreground and those on the left side but they could be some sort of redwoods or mammut trees. They're not nearly as tall or big as giant redwoods but the tallest trees I've seen here so far.

Very well balanced - great framing, solid editing, nice result. I know where you're coming from - had to do the same thing yesterday as well as today.

Martin, I use the LX100 up to ISO 800 only - and rely on more classic technique (tripod, O.I.S.) for lower light. At that speed, the files are still very good. I agree that above, it gets murky really quickly, and that ISO 800 shouldn't be an upper limit nowadays - but to preserve file quality, setting a limit usually helps; I explore every new camera that way and set the limit at the ISO I still find acceptable (funnily enough in terms of SiJ 17, I go one full stop up on the S95 to be able to shoot at lower light - I use ISO 800 as a limit instead of 400 ...).
