Sony I was bored and now I own a Sony a7ii...oops

A few quick SOOC jpegs. Bright sunlight, about 11am, and 35 degrees out with wind. 50mm mounted. No edits at all. I mostly use the hi contrast b&w in camera, but I mixed in a Vivid shot as well.

Figured ISO 50 was worth a try

Late last night, this was an indoor rich monochrome handheld 3 stack shot. Nothing amazing to look at, just isn't something that would be done without stabilization.

Interesting thread regurgitating the pros and cons that went through my head when considering a (cheap) A7. Two such issues that have been raised here are cost and legacy lenses. I know what I'm like. It would be all very well, getting an A7 just for legacy lens use, but sooner or later, I'd crumble and get one native lens, then another.....

The original A7 is now under $1000 for a brand-new body-only. I wonder if it's worth it? I have some full-frame glass - but it's all Pentax K-mount. By the time I purchased a proper adapter that allows for autofocus and metering, I could probably pick up a K-1.

I've taken some closer looks at the K-1 some time ago. Wonderful camera but I'd really miss the MF options and couldn't use some of my favorite lenses on it, oh well. I'll finally end up with an A7II as well, even though the sensor has just little more than one stop advantage over that on the NEX and more often than not that stop will get sacrificed for some extended DOF but I guess I can't ignore those 14bit RAWS and the IBIS any longer.

My local Best Buy has an open box, spotless A7 with kit 28-70mm for $818 with everything in the box. I looked it over and it was flawless. That was very tempting to me.

I would think so but they don't advertise the stuff they have in store, you just gotta know to ask specifically about the Sony stuff.

Well, it's not the exact camera Casey was telling us about - that's gone and was missing a number of accessories - but it's another open-box A7 with kit zoom from the same store. $900 and it's on it's way to my local Best Buy. Missing only a lens cap. Similar kits that are billed as fully complete are going for $1100 on Best Buy's website. We'll see.

Nice!

That's a little odd cause they pulled the a7 and showed me everything in the box with it...however there were some employees oogling it.

Well, sorry that that particular deal fell though but it sounds like you found a good backup.

Not much to do with all these grey skies and scattered rain. Sadly the weekend is coming to an end.
