Leica auto-manual focus for my V-Lux camera

I just bought a V-Lux camera and I'm learning how to use it.

I set it to AF-MF, so the zoom ring should become a manual focus after I've autofocused.

Looking at the PDF manual, I think I've set this up right, but when I turn the ring, it does not seem to change the focus at all. Also, there is no 'focus highlighting' or focus assist, or a scale which shows me the general focus distance (close to far)--even though I think I've turned on these features as well.

Can anyone give me some pointers as to how I can achieve what I want?

I did by this 'open box' from B&H, which is like-new with warranty, but there could still be something not right.

All the best, David.

I don't have the V-Lux, but a question: Is the camera itself (besides the ring setting) set to manual focus? I'm thinking you may need both.

I figured it out. The lens ring has to be set to focus and then it works. I mistakenly thought that even when the ring was set to zoom, if I had pushed the shutter half way it would then switch me into 'focus' mode, but no.
