Fuji Only 2 Lenses to choose

If you were only to have 2 lenses to choose to buy, what would you buy. Mostly shooting kids, family, street, and landscape.

My current kit is the 18-135 and the 35mm for low light/ shallow DOF stuff. If I didn't love the versatility of the 18-135, I might choose the 23mm and 56mm as a two lens kit. I think one could also argue for the 18-55mm and the 55-200 being all one would ever need. I'm sure you'll hear almost every combination of two lenses, though. Luckily, they're all good.

If you value convenience and performance, one of them could be the 18-55 or the 16-50.2.8. As for the other, it could be something longer, or wider. Personally I would want something longer, so that would be a tossup between the 55-200 and the 90mm.

Thanks. Was thinking of picking up an XE2 with kit lens of 18-55 and a 23mm for walking around city. The 16mm would be even better, but the price is a little more than I'd like to spend. I hear the 56mm is a gem as well. Could be on my list for next time.

The 18-55 is a great all-rounder choice, as is the 18-135 which differs only in weight, reach and weatherproofing. The second lens choice is much harder. I would personally always carry a fast lens so the 23 or the 35 would be my counsel. That said, I was recently in Florence and Pisa with 18-55, 14, 27 and 35 and found that the 18-55 wasn't long enough and the 14 got a lot of use in interiors. There's really no right answer and two is an awkward number. For three, my lightweight kit is 18, 27 and 60, and my low-light set is 23, 35, 56. Ultimately it's your choice, but a nice "problem" to have.

Currently, on the Fuji side of things, only shooting an X100T and an X100 with a the WCL-X100 wide lens which gives me 28mm and 35mm focal lengths. (My other daily camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk.II with a 25/1.8, 45/1.8 and 60/2.8 Macro which equates to 50mm, 90mm, 120mm)

Waiting and waiting and waiting... patiently as possible on the X-Pro2 but when it's released, my first two lenses will be:
- 10-24/4
- 35/1.4

The third lens would be the 56/1.2APD.

Was just at Daughter's concert and had my Olympus EP5 w/40-150. Found the focal length too long. I find myself always shooting focal length between 24-40 and find that anything longer I rarely use. Besides I have a 100-300 Panasonic for my M4/3 unit so that should take care of the length. Jumping to fuji because everyone raves about it. If all works out, may get rid of M4/3 and wait for XT2.

I only shoot with the 16mm and 56mm. My shooting consists of everything you mentioned plus some event work, exploring, etc. I've found it the perfect combo for me.

One lens: 1855 or 23mm or X100T
Two lenses: 18mm and 35mm
Three lenses: 18mm + 35mm + 90mm/f2.8 Contax G Sonnar
Four lenses: add the 12mm Samyang

18-135 and 35.
I also carry 14 for night photos.

18-135 get the most use. Here is a pix at the waterfalls.

On the 18-55 vs. 18-135 question, I feel like the times I need to go longer than 55 are not often enough to justify losing a stop at both ends, and the added size and weight. But I don't feel STRONGLY about it, and I'm curious about that 18-135, to say the least. But it's an either/or for me, I wouldn't have both.

I'm going that way since I got my 16mm. I have a 56, (and a 23) but I'm not sure whether the 35 might be a better second lens to carry around for my 2-lens kit

In the end, I ended up getting a XE1....the price was hard to beat and it came with a 18-55 lens. Now probably going to pick up 23 1.4. I think these 2 lenses will cover most of my needs.
