Birds Hummingbird feeder

The hummingbird feeder outside my door. It was full about a week ago.

Set it all up on a tripod then use one of those infra red remote thingies or a loooooooong cable. Or sit still out there for 3 million hours until they are used to you and you have moss growing over your feet.

I know I would one day find a justification for laying out the extra money for the NEX-5. That day has come and I feel very smug, even though you don't get hummingbirds here, I don't actually have an IR remote, and I live in a country where woolly jumpers are de rigeur.

Heather, surely there's a better way, in fact Barrie should have a few ideas.
He's an expert with little creatures.

Hi, given the heat I think my first reaction would have been to place the feeder somewhere where you could photograph the hummers from an air conditioned vantage point, all depends on how clean your windows are, the direction of light when they are feeding so that reflections are eliminated.
I'll refrain from suggesting a hide, I've still got memories of experiencing high temperatures whilst working in the Middle East many years ago.

Great idea of shooting from inside, but my window does not face that direction. Having a condo, my choices in hanging are rather limited.
Nor do I like the idea of setting my camera outside unattended for hours while waiting for a shot or two.

Guess I will just have to wait for cooler weather when I can sit outside for a while.
