Fuji A Strange Year and The X-10

Been away for quite a spell. It's been a strange year of job changes, parents declining health and a wife with cancer. I sold off my more expensive gear (mostly to help pay for non covered medical expenses at) at the start of my wife's chemo. A year or so later my wife is in the final push of her treatment and doing very well, the new job(s) are working out fine, my son has been a huge help during these times and we're all vertical so considering the alternatives life is pretty okay.

Over the past few months I have gotten back to making images with an old scratch and dent Fuji X10 I picked up on eBay for $99. Here are some images from a recent road trip (with a lot of much needed laughing) we did.

I have been thinking that I would eventually pick up X-Pro 1 now that things are looking up again but I am enjoying the X10 and the images I get from it so much that I may just hang tight with the X10 for a while.

Kevin, we all handle adversity in different ways. It does sound as if you have had a really challenging year. At times like this photography can be both an outlet and a companion, a silent witness to life. It strikes me thst looking at your work both here and over on PL that you exemplify the oft overused phrase, "It's the archer not the arrow". I am minded of.Bert Hardy who met the criticism that he took good photos because he used good cameras by usimg the most basic Box Brownie to shoot his next assignment. You could produce compelling images with a portable telephone.

Definitely have a look at an X-Pro1. They are probably at their cheapest right now on the secondhand market with the X-Pro2 just out and before the X-T2 puts cheap examples of another good camera into the market.

I second what Bill said: just walking around and taking pictures is one of the most relaxing things I can do to disconnect from day-to-day chaos.
I hope everything goes well for you and your family!

Wonderful news on the turn-around in your circumstances, hope the good stuff continues for your family.

GREAT PICTURES!
Tempting to suggest you stay with the terrific camera that got those shots.
But I admit I succumbed to temptation and recently upgraded to an X-T1 that I'm very happy with. So far as I know Fuji hasn't said anything yet about an X-T2 but it seems to be a logical and inevitable development. (Sigh...) there's always something newer, better.

Great shots!
I'm still enjoying my 5 year old X10.
It's great for travel and hiking and, as you've proven, still capable of great pictures.
Glad you and yours are doing well.

Looks like I'll have the opportunity to pick up another X camera in the next month. Trying to choose between a lightly used X100 or an X-Pro 1. I'm leaning more toward the X-Pro 1 as it allows me to use some of my old adapted lens in a pinch and I really like the images that the 1st gen X-Trans produces.
