Fuji Fuji X-T10 or X-e2s?

Hi

I'm looking to buy a Fuji ILC. I'm not sure which of the above as they are both about the same price and seem to be on par sensor wise. I currently have a Nikon DSLR D5300. I'm looking at trying mirrorless. I chose Fuji as I like the colors and mainly shoot JPEG. I will mainly use it for travel, some family portraits. I don't shoot fast moving action.
I will likely start with the kit lens. I'm also looking at the 27mm prime for a lightweight option
Thanks for any help.

The sensors are identical, I'm sure. It's more a question of form factor... especially where you want the eyepiece to be on the body. Secondarily, you've got a little more dial control on the T10 than you do on the XE2s. If I remember Rico correctly, they're basically identical software and capability in two different bodies, so it's really about what you prefer. Big ticket items are the XT10's "auto" switch, and big drive dial up top.

I looked at the X-T10 at Best Buy and it is really small but could not compare it to the X-e2s as they don't have it in store. I see an Auto button on the X-e2s also, wonder if it's the same as the Auto lever?

It is, put there literally so that the XT-10 software could work on it I think. Rico (expert here on the site) wrote something up about it, but what i recall is "same software and sensor, different skin."

Kyle's nailed it. It's all about how you prefer to see the world. Personally I prefer the "rangefinder" form factor because a) it is more compact and b) it obscures less of my face when shooting; better I think for travelling light and for human interaction.

Thanks! It seems like they're pretty much identical, comes down to body style I guess. I just don't get why the X-T10 is $100 more expensive just for an extra dial and lever!

Yup. I think it's stylistically tied to the XT-1, which was the Pro workhorse flagship model until the Pro 2 came out, so that might've added some cache to it. But they're the same camera in every way that would ever, ever matter to you, other than the layout. So it's just "where would you like your eyepiece installed, sir?"

Not entirely true. The T10 has a tilt rear screen. Which is important to some people, and another reason for the higher cost. Also the T10 is 8fps vs 7fps on the X-E2s which isn't much of a difference, but another reason Fuji makes the cost higher.

Quite true. The tilty screen alone is worth some money, if it's something you like (which I do).

Yep, I didn't want it on my XT-1, I felt it was just something I'd never use and just something to break. Then I started using the camera and getting older; It came in very handy. Now I love it and would never do without it! The additional direction is one of the reasons for my XT-2 pre-order.

Conversely, if you purchased the relative cameras from the Fuji refurb store in the UK you'd currently pay £30 more for the X-E2s over the X-T10 (both with the XF 18-55 lens).

I used to think I couldn't live without tilt screen. Then I got my first X-Pro2 and found that not only do I much prefer the rangefinder body. But also that I was only using the tilt screen for filming. Which I do not do enough to make the screen a priority. Again to show the personal preference factor.
