Fuji Clarification on Custom Settings

I recently got my X70. I think I have got my head around the custom settings menu but can someone clarify whether my logic is correct.

For ease of explanation, these are my Custom settings.
C1 - Currently set to factory defaults - standard film, all settings at zero.
C2 - Adjusted a few areas and likely to be treated as 'My' defaults.

1.
When I hit the 'Q' menu button I see 'BASE' as the current custom setting. But this is simply what the camera is currently set at, and not actually a Base or factory default setting, correct?

2.
In the Q Menu, If I select C2 then all relevant settings are adjusted to suit those saved in my C2 Custom Setting. I then hit MENU or Q buttons or half depress the shutter to exit using those settings and start shooting.

3.
The Custom settings are not really a mode - like a custom version of full auto. They are simply a way of quickly adjusting the cameras current settings - which then stay as current settings, even when you have taken the next picture, and even when you have turned the camera off and back on again.

In summary, the Custom Settings are not a 'Mode' that you stay in. They are a 'quick fill' for a pre-defined group of settings that remain (even after a picture is taken, even after the camera is turned off) until such time as they are changed again.

So, if using a more 'out there' custom setting I have to be careful next time I use the camera that those setting are either the ones I need or I should select my C1 'default' settings.

Does that sound about right?

I have to say I am loving the move to Fujifilm so far. It had never been on my radar before.

The way I interpret the custom modes is that they are simply different recipes for JPEGs. You can adjust things like color, highlights, shadows, DR, film simulation, and that's about it. What is confusing is the gray line between quick menu and custom modes parameters... since not all the parameters listed in the quick menu are used by the custom modes and recovered when you switch mode.

I think you can customize the Q menu to include whichever setting you would like in there.

But, I think you are saying that selecting a custom mode in the Q menu changed only the parameters inherent in the custom mode. But that would be the case if you only selected a custom mode anyway, wouldn't it?

I think the Q Menu shows whichever settings you wish it to show by customizing them. Selecting a Custom Mode via the Q menu simply throws that Custom modes settings over the top of what is there currently in the Q Menu, whatever that happens to be.

No, in the q menu you can have parameters that are not part of the custom modes, like af, eye detection, flash....
Therefore, changing custom mode changes only a limited number of the parameters you might have listed in the q menu

Let me rephrase...
In the Q menu you can add many more parameters than those covered by the Custom modes. So my point is that it becomes confusing when you change custom mode, and you see -in the Q page- some parameters change and others stay the same. I got used to that behavior, and I know that in the end the custom modes only affect the JPEG output, so any change in the Q menu of the AF modes (for example) will stay the same as I switch between custom modes, but I must admit that at the beginning it was confusing for me because I did not have clear the difference between what is shown in the Q menu and what the custom modes really are.
Custom mode parameters cannot be changed and preserved in the Q menu when switching modes, but everything else is preserved. To change the parameters part of the custom modes so that the "stick" you need to get into the Custom mode editor page (Q menu, then hold the Q button on my X-T2 for example). And I find that confusing for a newbie.

Base has, like you noticed, the current settings. Sometimes you see Base Cx... and that simply means that the settings are "based" on the Cx custom mode - basically a modification of that custom mode.
