Fuji The Everything Other Than Street X100 Image Thread.

Thanks you guys - maybe I'll get a press pass one day!:D

P.S. I did do them in color because the "newspaper" requested color, even though they're going to print in black and white...and we're talking a pretty low quality print. What was so interesting to me was how easily I was able to convert them to black and white without much effort at all via Silver Efex 2. Sometimes pictures just seem to work well in both color and B&W, but musicians always seem to be more real in black and white, I think. If anyone has a chance to look through the batch in Flickr, I'd be interested to see what you think about the color versions. There are some "crowd" shots in color, too. There really were some audience members under 50!;)

Hi BB, I much prefer the images in black and white. I don't know why black and white makes the band look like a real band, and the colour ones make them look more amateurish, but that's the way I perceive them. I don't like the colour of the wood in the background, but I like its textures in black and white. I usually prefer b&w images though. Which ones are the paper using? You'll have to scan the finished article for us to see.

Thanks Karen, I like them better in B&W, too. Bands just deserve to be treated with that "real life" look, I think. The wood interior was very yellowish... I got a kick out of the dancers - especially since I knew one of 'em.

As for the paper, we'll see what happens. My dreams of grandeur may be fleeting!

Hey, I missed these somehow! Great set of photos but I really prefer the colour ones as I feel that they convey the warmth and vitality of the occasion. Normally I prefer black and white for this type of pic but not this time. Very well done BB and hopefully you'll get your photos published to boot :D

A perfect New York City street scene complete with Yellow Cabs and rain! Glad to see New York's Finest on the job, too. Beautiful color and image quality, Christina - I can feel the rain... Speaking of which it is pouring here and we have a tornado watch or warning...and the thunder has begun, so it's offline for me!

Thanks re the color comments on my rock and roll shots! I definitely like the color ones for the dancers.:D

Well seen, ugog - it looks as though they've lined up for you. I can't remember if you're a Snapseed user or not but this sort of has that feel. The water's reflections are lovely dark and deep.

BB......this is a REALLY great photo. I love the diagonal line between the dark and light coupled with the upright fence stiles and light post.

WELL DONE!!!!!..........R

BB.......I've been back for about two weeks.....and just getting over the jet lag.

My only regret is that at the last minute, I didn't take my X100......BIG mistake, as much as I love my K-5, the landscape shots are missing a little something.

As much as I like this shot (taken with the K-5), I think the X100 would have done a better job.

I guess I'll have to go back......:big grin:

Wow! I hope you're not going to stop with this one here on SC! I'm surprised you didn't take the X100 but I understand that one can only take so much on a trip like this. It must have been incredible, Rich.

Please be sure to show more - you can start your own thread in one of the image forums...or if you've got a Flickr (why do I think you do but I don't see a link?) please post the link!

Welcome back and catch up on that sleep but promise to show more!

A seen from the same early evening visit as my earlier shot. I thought I'd mentioned the place but now realize I didn't. Playland Amusement Park is an historic small amusement park in Rye, New York, and not far from where I live.
