Yes ... it was her limit for sure but still happy to chase at the end of walk (well if we allowed her to!). She is quite a good runner too ... 10 km in the winter, 5 km in the summer. The joys of being young I suppose. That's a long way for a greyhound - built for sprinting not endurance.
Happy girl

Tara back into vet at 3-30. Went missing for 30 minutes down The wood about 5 minutes after I took that.
Called and called. Couldn’t see her anywhere. Or hear her. Even if I wasn’t deaf, near the rapids is very noisy.
She had slipped down a slippery rock into the river. Deep. Up to her neck. She has worn all the nails off on her back feet trying to get out !
I had to lie down on the same rock she slipped on and lassoed her with my camera strap . She was utterly exhausted scared and freezing cold. If she had barked I would have found her right away. I walked by the spot twice.
Just like Buster, quiet and invisible .
Vet checked her out and she had pain relief injection. No serious side effects.
I did know something was wrong though because since I got her she hasn’t let me out of her sight. Carried her shivering little body half mile back to the car. High viz collar when out from now on !!!!
Some of my friend's three this morning. Manni is the elderly one lying down looking unhappy. She's twelve and a half years old and in her final few weeks. My friend was keen to get some pics of them all together and so I did my best. It was pretty gloomy and space with three dogs that size was very, very limited. Plus, every time I squatted down to take a picture, one or two of them would get up and sit in front of me and offer a paw! Anyway, had to choose between ridiculously high iso and aperture and hope that she likes at least some of them!

Garry, you might want to look into getting something to put on her collar. I don't know what they are called, but someone makes a doo-dad that you can put on your keychain (and presumably a dog's collar) and you can find it with an app on your cel phone.
I gave it a bit of thought , but as I do like to see my dogs run around without collars or harnesses. I saw Taz one day running flat out through the trees. His harness clipped a broken branch and it stopped him dead and spun him around. It hurt him too, he was sore for a couple of days.
I'm going to Make Tara a high vis collar with a velcro only fastener. I might hang a little bell on it too.
did a bit of looking around after considering the recent discussions of the dangers of collars (which I had never even considered....although we have breakaway collars for our cat). I may try one of these for Ruby when she goes to doggy daycare. I like the idea of it breaking away when the dog is off-leash, but being secure when on leash.
