Feedback Nice bright look at new site

I was just having a little play with the themes on offer (not mad keen on either, to be honest) and found that there's a difference in how the home page performs for the light and dark themes. For the light theme, the featured photos seem to be a sensible size - there are about six images across the width of the screen and three vertically, which looks fine on a 24" monitor. When I switch to dark theme, a single landscape image pretty much fills the screen and looks over-magnified and ugly. This is with Firefox and Win 10.

@Richard, thanks for letting me know! When I did a quick edit because of the overlay problem there was a change done to the 'light' theme to verify the change but it should've been done to the parent them so that both 'light' & 'dark' saw the change. It should be fixed now. :)

There was that uncertain 24 hour period when the changes were being made and now everything’s settled down and I like it, having spent time on the desktop and on the phone. Best improvement for me is being able to open alerts in the background more instantaneously.

I've had a bit more time to live with the two themes now, and here's what I think -

The light theme looks bright and clean and is generally more aesthetically pleasing than the dark theme, which I find cluttered and muddy by comparison. And I prefer reading dark characters on a light background to the reverse.

But, I'm finding that the light theme results in a lot of bright white screen shining in my face, particularly when reading a thread like this one which is mostly pale background. I'm viewing a 24" monitor at a range of about 32 inches, and all that light coming in my direction is a bit uncomfortable on the old eyes. Mind you, it illuminates the room nicely on a dark day like today.

You could always invert colors on your browser.... here's the dark theme

Pretty much why I used the medium theme.

It may be that clean = white background = harsh on the eyes, so I will probably stick with medium for the time being. It's good to have a choice so I may switch back to light at some point.

I find myself switching between the different styles; for reading text & posts I personally prefer black text on a white background for reading but when viewing images or other non-text items, the darker background is easier on the eyes for me. With the 'Medium' theme back again I'm actually using it right now as it's easier for me to read on my laptop screen which at the moment is under a fluorescent tube light on my desk.

I don't know if all this means I'm just getting older and my eyes aren't what they used to be (when I could spend hours up all night working on my BBS setup) or if perhaps I just miss the days of nice crisp CRT displays over LCD screens.
