I brought my old camera friend, Lumix FZ20, to the Ecomuseum. This zoo began as a wild animal rescue and rehabilitation project for animals indigenous to the Laurentian mountains and St. Lawrence Valley regions in Quebec. It now has an extensive collection of fauna in protected areas. Have a look at zooecomuseum.ca. Winter is the best season to see many of the animals (although the bears were hibernating). Here are a few of them.

That cat looks cold...even with that beautiful fur coat.

I love going to the zoos in different seasons and seeing the different activities and behaviors in the different weather. The old FZ20 captured the details very well.

I am at that zoo about twice a year — driven by my grandchildren’s requests. I left my LX100 at home and decided to take the FZ20 because of its longer zoom range and despite its minimal chip size. I was reminded that in daylight and relatively stationary subjects, the camera performs quite well, but dim light and movement challenge its optics and electronics.

I was reminded about how large wolves are. Without proximal size comparisons they could be described as large dogs. In context, though, they are huge, almost the size of a small pony. I would not want to be marked as prey by one of them! The lynx enclosure had another lynx but it was too active for me to capture adequately.

I thought you might be exaggerating there Les....the Wolves at our zoo are more like big dogs, but I see some of them of them do get quite huge. I see the weight listed for adult males ranges from 55lbs - 170 lbs.....that's a pretty crazy range!

The Ecomuseum wolves are identified as Grey Wolves. According to Wikipedia it is the largest canine.
