SiJy 2019 Day 4

Happy 4th of July for those of you who celebrate it. I encountered three parked cars of colors red, white and blue but they were dirty and one was really gray so that's not my pick of the day.

Instead let me present, Cage Bird

It doesn't really detract from the picture, which I like BTW, but I notice that the gate wires are less sharp in the center than near the edges, probably an idiosyncrasy of the lens.

No no, it's this new kind of fuzzy wire ☕

In all seriousness the lens probably has a really cool focus transition. Rapid in one way, very gradual in the other. Perhaps the couple of inches' distance is crucial and makes the difference?

Then again I've been shooting it wide open the past few days and I don't have to focus very far to get pretty much everything in focus. Also things remain in control at edges and corners, so I'm not sure it would be field curvature, not at least very noticeable kind. Anyway wonderful what five elements in three groups can do!

I think I had a little too much activity in the heat yesterday, not feeling the greatest today. Resting up instead of going out for Independence Day activities, as I want to try fireworks photos this evening if I'm able. On that note, grab shot of the gear for tonight - Pentax K-1 and FA Limited 31/1.8, tripod and remote.

A busy day here. But I thought of this last night and got this old body out of bed before the dew evaporated in the Horticultural Arts Society's Demonstration Garden. I saw this yesterday and got the 20 on it today - with a diopter, and still heavily cropped.

The rest of today (American Independence Day) will now be devoted to rest (I was out of bed by 0630!!) and eating.

It’s a very subtle image.
That's me. Subtle. "A very sophisticated subtle. Subtle that will make you want to shout. Subtle that brings tears to grown men's eyes. A very saintly subtlety. Obviously requiring immense skill, dedication, and patience.

Or maybe he forgot to upload the image."

"I'll be here all month, folks!"

I'm trying to stick the the 1:1 guideline and part of the reason I chose the 15mm lens is because I dont usually do very well with a wide lens. My favourite FoV falls somewhere between 35 and 150. And thats why I decided not to go with the TZ in the end... however, after only 3 days my wrists are giving out. Its been raining, but I dont really want to switch to the WR zoom so I'll see how it goes. Maybe a shot of the nasturtiums in the back yard from under a brolly.

[edit] Brolly not required. I liked the Jasmine (or whatever it is, this creeper) better. Its actually a bright orange but the fence is ugly so I decided a conversion to monochrome and a darkening of everything except the flowers, was the go. Couldnt get the same effect without converting. And the rain stopped long enough to get that.
