I almost always crop. I do not subscribe to the notion that in order to present a photo it MUST be straight out of the camera with no alterations. We never did that with film, and I wont do it with digital. So here's Toby. Cropped. I dont think we needed to see the dangling spiderwebs (outside) I haven't cleared away.
Also... I forgot to adjust the zoom to 18mm, so its a bit longer than I intended. Toby wont sit still for another, and its too cold and windy to go out today... so I'm staying in. So is he. He told me its ridiculously cold out there and he isnt going out until he needs to pee again.

I did jpeg only/ no editing for an sij, it was more than difficult, it was a struggle.

I must say that I've been a little disappointed of late, the supply of "you know what" pictures have dried up, so I thought you might need some encouragement. Oh spare us some of you might be saying. Well I couldn't resist, you don't often see one with the bonnet (hood) up. Actually I just missed Graham degreasing it with a pressure spray before taking it into the barn behind to service it. Sadly his other tractor was parked directly behind it which rather confuses the area where the bonnet is raised, well you can't win them all. Oh yes, and you might just have noticed that it's in COLOUR! Does this mark a change in direction? You'll have to watch this space.

I did so want to "like" this image, the composition is excellent but I find it a little too dark, I feel the surf really should be white, or close to it, which I think could raise the image to "winner"status. I stress just my own opinion, others might differ. Your picture of the pilot launch off Flinders Jetty on Day 10, post #22 is also dark and moody, but works perfectly because it has white objects, for example the yachts, in it which are rendered white, therefore the brain accepts the image.
Troy, I've taken the liberty of posting a copy of this image in the discussions thread (post #64) with a minor adjustment to the curves carried out in seconds in GIMP to illustrate my point (I hope you don't mind).
I'm adding further comment to this post to point people to the discussion thread where it would appear that differences between monitor calibrations are leading to difficulty in judging images posted, in particular the white/black points can differ to an extent that spoils peoples enjoyment of an image.

I purchased this bundle of wood for a stringed instrument from a luthier in the eastern mountains of my home state. He said the wood had been seasoning in his shop for over 30 years. The reddish wood on top of the stack is old growth Honduran Mahogany. It will be used for the neck, back, sides, and end blocks. The two lighter colored slabs on the bottom are old growth Red Spruce from right here in the mountains of West Virginia, to be used for the soundboard. Old growth wood is becoming harder to find, and wood that has been seasoning that long even more so.
When my current projects are complete, I will begin turning this wood into a replica of a 1940 Gibson L-00, an iconic parlor guitar favored by blues guitarists of the mid 20th century. Originally sold for $25, an authentic L-00 in good shape can fetch as much as $5,000.

Number 2 Folding Hawkeye. Made in the USA no less, which really dates it. I wanted an anachronism in the shot and originally I thought about showing the barcode sticker on the apple. That didn't work. I decided instead for the modern lens cap leveling off the folder.

I'm not familiar with the model, my first camera was a Voigtlander Bessa 1, 8 on 120 film which taught me a great deal in terms of photography basics.

JPEG and no cropping, that to me would be a form of self-punishment.
Feeling such a lazy ass bum. Went out to scout a new location and what gorgeous scenery there was, a galore of stone textures and all things that a sharp, contrasty lens captures like it was destined to do.
But the shot that shows below comes from the very first scene and it's the shot #3 of the 200+-shot walk.
