The E-M1 Mk I added focus bracketing with firmware 1.4. After tracking down a video I tried it today.

I used the Pana 20mm f1.7 and used a 22 shot bracket which was about 10 more than I needed. Experiments will continue.

I stacked the shots in Franzis Focus 4 and it did a good job on the big stack. On1 RAW would only stack about 12 or so.

Tried jpg and RAW and I prefer the jpg for speed and no need for PP.

Ok, so the single image seems to have the same amount in focus as the stacked set. What advantage to all that work?

Walter, this technique is mostly used with small subjects and a macro lens. This is the first time I've got it to work so got excited and shared the result - it is overkill for a glass of flowers. Now to try it with my macro lens. Btw once the camera menu is set up it only takes one shutter press to take all the images. With the correct lens the camera will automatically merge 8 images without extra software. It's definitely the camera getting smarter, not me.

Ok, got it. Yes, the camera doing more of the work. I have tried it with mixed results, both the Pany way and the Oly way. Both are interesting examples of the future - not quite ready for prime time yet. Imho.
