Uncool move amazon

I quit using Amazon a few years ago after a string of bad boxing over the space of a year or so. Electronics and other breakables in their native box just placed loose in the shipping box, no packing materials, just sealed and shipped.

they package as quickly and inexpensively as possible. It must be that the money saved in labor and materials is greater than the claims of damage. I'd rather just pack stuff correctly, but then I'm not a giant successful business that doesn't need or care about losing a customer.

They have trained us to look for the cheapest price and expect free shipping. They invented the race to the bottom mentality. And I hate them for it.

Disappointing --- although perhaps the perfect condition of the lens on arrival tells us (and Amazon) that the OEM packaging is fit for that purpose.
While the lens arrived safely in the factory box. It probably wouldn’t be the case every time. Also, there is nothing keeping anyone from opening the box. There was no tape securing it closed. And, if no one had been home, a box screaming electronics would have been sitting on my porch instead of non descriptive cardboard.

I would have thought that there would be privacy and confidentiality concerns though. For eg., if you were, you know, buying a sex toy or something. Not that I've ever bought a sex toy or anything like that....

We’ve had some things sent to the shop I work in for pranks.

For this group, a lens is kinda like a sex toy.
Camera porn :D

In all seriousness, I battle regularly with Amazon delivery. I'm a Prime member and their delivery "service" is abysmal. I have a drive, a tall gate and a front courtyard. Everybody else manages to work this out. Not the Amazon boys, oh no... I have had parcels left on the cars, under a wiper blade, lobbed over the gate, on the drive, under a car, balanced on top of the gate and my all-time favourite, in the courtyard but not under cover - this is a particularly moronic thing to do when it's raining and there are plenty of places to leave a parcel under cover. The answer from Amazon is always the same "it will never happen again".

Yeh right.
