GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

My own acquisitions are two things I've wanted for awhile but I finally went and acquired...though the 2nd one took a bit of looking to find the 'right' one. Both for my Pentax KP -

The first is Pentax's magnifying viewfinder (the O-ME53), which makes everything inside the optical viewfinder just a little larger. I have wanted one for some time and, yes, it really works :)

The second is a classic old piece of glass - Tamron's f/2.8 90mm macro - which also I think will occasionally double as a portrait and light telephoto lens - and which a good friend and former Pentaxian sang the praises of, to me, for some time, telling me it was the sharpest lens he ever used on his older analog Pentaxes. I think only time will tell how it does for me, but the good news is that some older 'legacy' lenses can be purchased for, almost literally, the metaphoric price of a song.

And lastly, one of the first photos taken with the lens, just to see...

Damn. What a truly lovely camera. Whatever it cost....it was money well spent. Congrats! and muchas gracias for sharing the cool photo.
It was about $750 all told, which is actually one of the cheapest ways to get an M mount camera and lens, you could maybe get a CL with 40mm a bit cheaper but you'd probably be dealing with at least some consequences of age. This is pretty much pristine.

Enjoy @AndyH44, if you don't have a pouch for it I would HIGHLY recommend the National Geographic 1153 Pouch, I would have included it as well, but.... It also just holds this with the Pan 12-32 or 14mm. Debating about getting something that will hold Pen F with the 17mm.

Pretty much like new (145 on the shutter). Came with the Kaza-Deluxe combo in brown, but I replaced that with a stealthy black Gariz 1/2 case.

I wouldn’t call it GAS, as I’ve been wanting to get on of these for a while, but this was delivered yesterday. Bought it off the FM forums and it is in mint condition. Really looking forward to putting it through its paces.

The RX1R has its flaws. But I've always wanted one myself. If I don't make it happen very soon, it will remain a pipe dream forever.

The Mark II version definitely improved on the original, while retaining the magical Zeiss lens. The gains in AF, pop up EVF, tilt screen, and high resolution (allowing nice cropping of the fixed lens) are all signs that Sony put a lot of effort into this second (maybe last) gen model.

I’ve had mine for a few weeks and love the compact size and stellar IQ. The challenge for me is that I already have an A7 series camera that provides a lot of the same benefits, but with the versatility of multiple lens options. Will see how it goes, as I am trying to simplify in 2020 so that will mean a reduction in cameras/lenses. As good as this camera is, it may be a casualty of that downsizing. But, the heart is powerful, and can sometimes overpower the mind.

If the A7 is your only other camera, I think you can make a valid case for the RX1R as well. Different tools for different jobs.

BTW, did you buy yours brand new or pre-owned? I think the only way I will be able to own one is to go used.

If I pair my A7 with my 35mm 2.8 Zeiss, it’s almost as small as the RX1R. But yes, the RX is a different feel - IQ wise and handling (aperture ring), and is more enjoyable to use/carry.

I bought mine used off of the FM forums. It basically looks new though and at a much better price point of entry, although still a good chunk of change.

I'm definitely a bit jealous of RX1 owners, especially the 2nd gen. I think I could make a case for the RX1rII being a one-camera solution for me, but it's a little too far outside what I could afford, and who ever sticks with a one camera solution long anyway??
I'm not sure it could function as my one camera solution. But to buy a new one I'd have to sell everything else so it would be by default.

Likewise! I think I could get by with 35mm as my wide end, and the high MP count of the rII would make cropping easy. But I like my multi-small-camera setup for now, when I went on vacation a couple months ago I used a small Domke bag with both dividers and had three cameras - GRIII, Yi M1 with the 20mm pancake, and the 500G film rangefinder, all in a tiny bag. No lens switching, just select the camera I wanted for the particular shot.

Did that with just the X70 a few years ago (X70 and wide converter). If I were planning it now I'd go Pen F + P12-32 / O17 / O9 BCL.
