And here it is. The aluminum finish is lovely.

In a serendipitous development, I am on February Break and have the afternoon off and was able to swipe a fully charged battery from the XH1. I am only shooting jpegs so I will try to post some shots later in the X100 thread.

Nice looking camera, although I still think I would prefer the black body.

After reading about what controls can be assigned new functions, I could assign all the functions I am used to assigning to function buttons and use this camera - but it would be a completely different setup from my other Fujis.

That would require me to remember a fifth (V in addition to a Nikon Z6, Pentax K-1, Fuji X-E2S & X100F+X-H1) control layout.

These days that exceeds my "easy to remember" capability. :(

OK, some shots are posted over on the X100 Fuji showcase thread.

One weird thing. Whenever I took a shot on the walk, just jpeg or jpeg + RAW, I would get a black screen with "STORING" displayed. It lasts a second or two. I knew there had to be a problem since something like this would have made the interwebs explode. I went to make a video of it for this post after I posted the shots, but of course it's gone now and instantly is ready for another shot. The only this I did was to take out the card, download the images, and put it back in the camera. Just noting it if, for some reason, this happens to someone else.

On a less weird note, it's a pleasure to use. The lack of buttons means I have a lot of real estate to put my thumb when I grip it. A delightfully simple and easy camera to use. I used the flip screen a few times and it is handy for low angles. It really does fit flush with the body and really doesn't look any different from the fixed screen XE3 except for the tab on the side to flip it out.

Set "Clarity" to O.

This sounds like exactly the same issue I have experienced with my X-Pro3. I asked a Fuji chap about it. He acknowledged that use of clarity slows the write time "slightly"... I pointed out that his "slightly" was my "unacceptably long" and suggested that piss-poor (ie inefficient) coding was to blame. He looked a bit sheepish and said it had been tuned already, and this was the best they could do.

I don't use Clarity...

Thanks for posting those. Had you made any changes, or was the camera still set to the standard jpg image profile?

Damn. I did have the Clarity set to +2, and turned it off when I got back. I forgot about that. Now I remember reading this in your comments about the XPro3. Thanks. At least I now don't have to blame the gremlins for this.

I was using Velvia which is why the bricks look so bright in that one window shot. The later shot of the window and the wall were the same color bricks but processed from the RAW file. I did some pulling of shadows because the harsh lighting made me want to same the highlights. As mentioned in the last post, I had the Clarity set to +2 for some stupid reason. I also set the Sharpness to +1 because I don't like to sharpen Fuji RAW files in ACR.

I should note that if anyone has any special requests, I'm happy to try a shot. I understand the need to test things before buying online.

Thanks - I was wondering due to the vividness of some of the colors. I like the stained glass and the colored bulb display photos quite a bit.

Isn't there a new film simulation that finally sort of embraces the look of Fujicolor negative films, with a bit of a tendency toward greens and magenta? That sounded intriguing to me. I really like the way C200 and Superia and Pro 400H look.
