Any board gamers here?

There are pre-built decks yes, but I really should stick with the finite Legendary decks because MTG could turn into a drug if I dipped my toe into it ....
True. I went in head-first. I stopped counting some 12'000 cards later. Still have most of them (in fact, I could say I sleep on them - most of them are under the bed ...).

P.S. I have way more than 12'000 ... just don't know how many. So it goes.

Very much the history. That, I might add, is one of my simpler (!) and shorter (!!) games. But I'm nothing compared to an Advanced Squad Leader player. Those folks are hardcore.

What other board games do you have that are longer than 4 hours per play? I'm genuinely curious. I can quite safely say that I do not have friends that would have the fortitude to sit through 4+ hours of serious gameplay.

You're right there with that. However, for casual players, there are plenty of pre-built decks, even sets with two of them, so playing outside the tournament circus doesn't have to be too competitive. Anyway, I'll definitely break out the decks (I still have dozens of them around) to entertain myself. Thanks for the incentive :2thumbs:

Re drugs - you should have seen how fast I went from a Panasonic LX5 to a Leica M8.2.

"Iron Tide" and "Bitter Woods" are simulations of the Battle of the Bulge and can easily go over 8 hours, though both also have partial scenarios that can be done in shorter amounts of time. I like to play one of them each year in December and, when I didn't have a cat, have left it set up on a table and played each days turn one turn per day. Like sitting in SHAFE waiting to hear from Bastogne... :drinks:

Holy moley, I looked em up and they look very unassuming. I wouldn't have picked them to be a whole-day game. They both look very similar though, and very technical with lots of tiny pieces and tiles. If I had some beers I'd probably be happy to sit and watch you and your pals play a day game.

Back in the day, I played Samurai Swords and Axis and Allies.

Now, the wife and I like playing cooperative games on our Oculus and card games. Monopoly Go! is one of our favorites.

Do you mean Shogun aka Samurai Swords? I'm seeing another Samurai Sword (singular) game that is a card game. I know of Axis and Allies and Monopoly Go but never had a chance to play either of them. Will check em out next time I'm at the board game store.

Shogun, yes. It was re-released as Samurai Swords. It is basically a scaled down version of axis and allies, and set in the feudal period of Japan. They are a bit complex at first, but once yyou get the hang of it - SO MUCH FUN!
