Daily Challenge Challenge in April: Who's in?

For me it’s time of the year and light, nothing to cheer up with. Hard light, no colours in nature and dust, dust, dust

Nothing to do with the Thing-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named...
Yeah, I was thinking that times have a distinctly documentarian nature about them that hasn't been quite so strong in recent past. B&W seems more fitting than color for that.

For the record, again: yes. I'm in.

And in these definitely strange times, I can't help thinking about the language we use: saying one is "in", is another way of including oneself - or being included. Or, metaphorically - of 'belonging'. Which, with everyone talking about quarantines and isolation and social distancing, makes me wonder.....what it could mean, to belong somewhere.

The Scottish author George McDonald addresses the question in a rather cool and philosophical way in a 19th Century novel:
“Oblige me by telling me where I am."
"That is impossible. You know nothing about whereness. The only way to come to know where you are is to begin to make yourself at home.”

Maybe that's what it's all about. And, like I said....I'm in :)

With 2 other Pen F's in the group I think I'll switch to my E-M1.2 for a little variety. With the 56mm it might give me the chance to play with some mono stuff not using the creative dial, something I haven't really done much of.
Cool combo! I had a 75mm turn into one of my favourite lenses in a previous "Single in" - very curious what can be done with an even longer lens (112mm-e). I'm generally more comfortable with tele than with wide-angle. That's one of the reasons I'm going with the GR III (among the others is that I can't seem to make that camera sing - yet, or so I hope).

Looking forward to your shots. And if anyone wants to try to persuade me to go with the E-M5 III and Sigma 60mm f/2.8, just go ahead ... (this is a trick, I'm just trying to chicken out of the GR III predicament ;)).

I think most of the month long challenges here I have completed with one or another of the GRD/GR range. It’s got to be my favourite camera. I was in Brussels just a few weeks ago and the GR III was all I took. I didn’t feel disadvantaged in any way but then I was overdosed on chocolate, waffles and beer!!

Can't help you there, I chickened out in July and opt'd FOR the X70 with the 28mm EQ. Easy for me would be the Pen and O17mm/PL25mm/P12-32mm.

I know it's kind of ridiculous. But it's a fact that while I loved the original GR, I seem not to "get" the GR III - maybe it's just a bit too sophisticated for me now :p

But we'll see. I'm actually looking forward to this, even if I may fumble the odd shot (or day).

I don’t know u in the real world Matt but u strike me as an over thinker! You need to free up that wonderful mind of yours and just have fun with it.

I'm sure the X100v will hold it's own.
I'm sure. However, I did a Singles in July challenge with the X70 and it worked just fine. I'd love an x70 style camera with a longer FL lens. I know they can make these small since 40 mm is a favorite for many pancakes FF lenses. The small size of the X70 makes it pocket-able unless you wear skinny jeans. I suspect the latter condition is not a huge problem on this forum.

Guilty as charged. Will do.

And if I ever hit Edinburgh again (which I will do once all this is over), I'll let you know, so you can judge for yourself should you want to. I'll haunt the Vaults in Leith first, and after that, I'm free ;)

You know I had to google to see what the Vaults were in Leith! Clearly I‘d be no good as a tour guide but after a trip to the Vaults you’d be too merry to care!:drinks:
