This is so corny I just had to take the shot ...

M.

this Reminds me of my first lesson in Latin.

Marcus et Cornelia in horto ambulant. Cornelia subito serpentem videt et clamat: "Marce! Marce!" Marcus rogat: "Quid est, Cornelia? Cur clamas?" Puella clamat: "Serpentem video!" Marcus rogat: "Ubi serpentem vides?" Cornelia serpentem indicat. Tum puer et puella clamant: "Pater! Pater! Serpentem in horto videmus!" Pater Marcum et Corneliam audit et cito in hortum venit. Rogat: "Ubi serpentem videtis, Marce et Cornelia?" Sed puer et puella serpentem non iam vident; serpens iam procul est.

I don’t want to work out how many years it has been since my first Latin lesson! :crying:

Actually took a bit of a drive today to check some of the usual suspects before the snow started. Yep. Snowing here right now. That's far better than the freezing rain earlier. After some consideration, I found that the new place I stopped at (a canoe landing along the Namakogon river outside of town) was the most fruitful. Though I'll have another shot for my tree thread too, this was the one I like the most right now.

Took the gear out with me to the grocery shops. One of the shops had this on the shelf. So I thought to myself, great that's day 3 of the challenge sorted.

I keep looking at your photos and thinking something along the lines of: damn, the 800E really renders colors with a subtle richness. And then along comes this photo...and I have to change the script: damn, the 800E really renders all images with a subtle richness. Or maybe it's just the photographer's eye :) but, whatever....I like this image alot.

Day 4: checkout/cash register at the Supermarket

Oregon has been on Shelter-in-Place isolation for weeks now. As the corona has ramped up with more and more reported cases - and fatalities - you can see how it has affected daily behavior, in the rare instances when one goes out and finds oneself in company with larger amounts of people - which in my case happens when I need to go to the local Supermarket for shopping. Now, a good 90 percent of those I saw - shoppers and store employees - were wearing face masks and gloves. Additionally, when one finally reaches the checkout/cash register (a more arduous process since half the cash registers have been closed - to keep more space between customers - and waiting in line, one must now stand a prescribed 6 feet or 2 meters apart, which means the line-which-one-normally-waits-in-to-make-one's-purchases now seems to snake out across half the store, instead of the former custom of shoving in closer to the person in front of you, as we used to do, in the vain hope that somehow you would get through the line, and out of the store, more quickly.

I took a handful of photos in the supermarket this morning. It was hard picking the right one for my Day 3 entry but I settled on this shot - of a masked checker dealing with a masked customer. There were some others that seem like keepers to me, but they are all going to go in the Outtakes thread. Here it is----

When we are all masked and can't see each other's faces - will that become the de facto 'New Normal'?

Raining all day. And, thanks to the Coronavirus, my partner and I are not in Halifax, England, where we would have been celebrating Ann Lister's Birthday. Instead we watched a live stream of Helena Whitbread, the woman who decoded Ann Lister's diaries. View attachment 217268
That lamp would last 5 minutes in my place perched like that. And yes, it is a bit strange that out of all of the aspects of the picture, my eye gets drawn to that, but there we go.
