Kind of the opposite, background in focus, front out of focus.
I like to experiment with this but I rarely like the result so, this one is an exception :)

This defocused image made me laugh as it reminded me of this defocused image taken with my Sonnar which, once upon a time, I posted on Flickr..

...to which this very angry man came on and had a right old rant, going on about how this is not bokeh/ no big achievement here/ easiest thing in the world to defocus a lens and snap/ next time, try with a main subject tack-sharp in the frame at the same time etc etc. To which, having had a peek at his Flickr stream, I suggested that it was subjective, just as I didn’t think his pictures of a flower with blurred out background was “bokeh” either. Oh, that went down well :LOL:

that reminds me of one of the images I used for our Christmas/New year wishes.
A totally out of focus (intentionally :)) shot of the Christmas tree lights.
I guess it still would fit in this thread since the context was implied although not visible in the image.

@Bart J D
Your first image in post 117, above, shows alot of fine detail in the petals. I think it would look especially good in color. Do you have a colour version to post.
Thanks

Sure, Apollo.
I do consider my colour images as a kind of base "raw" material for b&w :)
That means my colour versions are often far less processed but here you go:

As you can see, even the crop was not applied.
