Canon Canon EOS R5: Big if True

It appears the overheating issues with video are true
yeah, I don't know. It seems to be a sport lately whenever something new is released to desperately try to find some ways to make it "break" - and then make a big hoopla of it...
Guess the advertiser-click-machinerie needs to be fed - and if there's not any kind of drama or controversy, the bloggers might be forced to create some productive content (god forbid :) )

I'd rather use gear to create something - and if there's limitations, I work around them... But that attitude doesn't stir up a lot of clicks, I'm sure :)

Nothing's "perfect" (whatever that means) - the gear we have today is pretty darn capable though... :)

Lots of cameras have heating issues with video. The X100V limits the video length for that reason. Of course, the Fuji is mainly a stills camera and the new Canons have serious video capabilities that might make a videographer want to buy these bodies.

Canon probably overexerted itself with the topnotch autofocus, which explains the battery life and overheating in both stills and video.

Also these files are big and at 20 fps there's some serious bit streaming and card writing around.

If I was going to pay well over $10k for an R5 and native zooms/ primes, these adverse stories wouldn't be putting me off. As a non professional, if I want to take a video I use my phone like 99% of the world.

I agreed with the the phone part. However, I would wait awhile before dropping $10k on the R5 for video, at least until the heat dies down.
