GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

We're all horrible bunch of enablers, ErichH. Either here or on pages like the Vintage Camera Collectors Group on Facebook ;)

I'm still waiting on a 2x3 Auto Graflex R.B. at the moment.
And there's a No.1 Crown Tripod in the works.
Yes you are (horrible 😂)!!

Right now I'm looking for an Agfa Isoly, the first model, with the shutter release on the right side of the lens (when holding the camera). Didn't think it would be this hard to find, but the Isolys I seem to find are all of the later model, with a decent case, instead of the extremely unattractive plastic case of the first model, and the shutter release on the top of the camera. And they all seem to have a missing aluminium cover plate that should be on top of the finder.

Many Agfa models of entry level medium format (120 film) cameras at the time had this type finder, and today most of the covering plates obviously have gone missing. I've got an Isoly Junior (notice the difference?) which has this defect.

That one I'm going to make a top plate for myself, though.

And why, in the name of heaven, do I want this crappy camera? Because one like it was my first own camera! Got it from my parents, Mr and Mrs Flintstone, at the dawn of time.

My second camera was the Zenit 3M with the Helios-44. What a marvel of technology, in comparison! Bought that, fittingly enough, second hand, for my own money.

At the beginning of recorded history, there was apparently no legislation in place that banned child labour.

My dream camera at the time was, obviously, the Spotmatic. Which I've (over)compensated for in later years.

Well, we'll see how it goes...

Sometimes I like the modern, artsy and definitely cheap! Some photos of my current mid-range zooms! :D

Is that the new tamron? How do you like it?

Arrived today! An Auto Graflex R.B. Series B (2x3"), straight out of Austria. (Seen here with my Kodak Auto Graflex Junior in the same format)
Just needed a little dusting and lubrication of the rollers to get it going.
Added bonus: previous owner added a magnifying glass over the ground glass in the viewfinder.

Already got a "Graflex 23" roll film adapter on it. Ready to Rock 'n Roll! :)

I finally got my A9 prepped and wearing it's battle armor! I usually spend an hour prepping a camera. If it's a used body I wipe it down with a damp cloth and also clean the dials with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. I then do a factory format and reset. I sync all my camera clocks to the same time and then custom set all the buttons to my custom settings. Batteries get a full charge and I verify shutter count. I do all this before even shooting with the camera!

Best FF super zoom bar none. Highly recommended!
If I weren't looking to get out of the Sony system, that's the next lens I'd get.

As it is, I'll have to "make do" with the also quite nice, if not similarily extraordinary Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR. Fits the Z6, starts at 24mm, has VR - and has quite solid IQ, too. But after reading the Cameralabs review of the Tamron (and the Nikon), I definitely wish that Tamron managed to crack the Z mount protocols soon ... That said, depending on the performance of the Nikon zoom, I may stick with it for some time. We'll see ...

I'm sure the Nikon is excellent, but the Tamron is faster at the wide and long end. Also I can pair the lens with the Samyang 18mm 2.8 (and 45mm 1.8 if need be) lens to get an extraordinarily compact and wide/long travel kit.
