Start Date August 26, 2020
End Date September 18, 2020

This Cameraderie 37th Challenge theme is: WINDOWS.

As usual, this challenge will consider originality, technical merit, and artistic vision.

Windows are a part of our daily lives. As photographers, many of us have taken photographs of windows - or through them - or of reflections from them - and that's just scratching the tip of the iceberg. The politician and educational reformer Horace Mann once said, “A house without books is like a room without windows.” Novelist Edith Wharton wrote, "Set wide the window, let me drink in the day." Photographer Alec Soth commented that, "almost every photograph starts with an act of pure description, a window". And one Turkish photographer, Alper Yesiltas, spent a dozen shooting photographs, literally, of the same window - before the building where it was located was torn down.

Any and all interpretations of a Window or of Windows will be allowed, accepted and considered. If you wish to also include a brief comment or explanation or anything else about your 'Windows' entry, or how it fits in with the theme of this challenge, please do so.

This challenge will run for a little more than 3 weeks - starting today, August 26, and running through September 18 -- Please submit your entry by the end of Friday, September 18, 2020. I will do my best to evaluate and judge in a timely fashion after that.

So....show us your windows!
Miguel
--------

No change to the tried and trusted rules, which are as follows:

1. Either take pictures that match the nominated theme or select some from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the images in order to enter it.

2. Only one entry per challenge, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement pictures that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

3. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo-challenge, after all!

4. The winner will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Challenge, and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the Cameraderie Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

5. The curator cannot enter his or her own challenge.

There is another entry by me . . Through the window pane . .
This cat was trapped in the display window of the Au Bon Marché in Paris, and really looked desparate

post script: shouldn't the 'tested' rule of one picture / participant to the challenge be dropped?

I've been away from photography and the photographic world for the last week, due to the catastrophic wildfire that partially destroyed the town where I live in Oregon, but I am safe and well and back to many of my normal photographic obsessions now :) and I suddenly realized there is a DEADLINE for this contest looming---

TOMORROW is Friday, September 18 - the LAST day for entries in the 'Windows' Challenge - so for all who have thought about it but procrastinated or not found the right creative catalyst, you now have a little over 24 hours before the entry closes....and the metaphorical window shuts.

On the main square of Meursault, France

I'm afraid I am a little confused: there are two entries by you, the first of the intriguing Cat - the second of the windows on the street, in the main square of Meursault, France --- but you haven't clearly stated WHICH is your official entry. Normally, I would guess or supposed that the latest entry - in this case, the photograph taken on the main square of Meursault - would become your 'official' entry - and not the first one .... but clarification would be helpful for me. Please let me know --- thanks!!!
