This Cameraderie 40th Challenge theme is: Karma, Good or Bad

After having an enjoyable hour contemplating the theme of "Bad Teeth", I decided on "Karma, Good or Bad". Whether you favor reward or comeuppance, show me the reaction of the Great Cosmic Powers to human actions. Not surprisingly, I expect a wide range of interpretations.

As usual, this challenge will consider originality, technical merit, and artistic vision.

No change to the tried and trusted rules, which are as follows:

1. Either take pictures that match the nominated theme or select some from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the images in order to enter it.

2. Only one entry per challenge, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement pictures that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

3. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo-challenge, after all!

4. The winner will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Challenge, and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the Cameraderie Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

5. The curator cannot enter in his or her own challenge.

A very nice and diverse selection. My thoughts:

Donlaw: This hits right to heart of it, being a little silly about 2020 right before it clobbers us. It’s a nice portrait as well.

Akuiper: A lovely picture. Enjoying a bit of an indulgence in the heart of a beautiful human city. I really like that the sharp focus is on the hands and the drink.

Pdurand: I spent some time in India and began to see scenes like these as very much the student and teacher rather than believer and cleric as we might in the west. I suspect I’ve used that look on some of my own students. Lovely composition and colors.

MiguelATF: What a wonderful image! The feeling is there and I appreciate the context you gave. It is a scene of joy in our common existence. I love the heads and the hands being in sharp focus and the rest of the elements slowly blurring back into a sea of humanity.

Ricks: This is a fascinating shot, but I admit I don’t quite see the connection to the theme. Is our equine friend named Karma?

In the end it was a close call between donlaw and Miquel. I felt the former had a better connection to the theme, so I declare donlaw the winner. Thanks to all who participated.

Congratulations Don. And thanks Steve, you caused me to look up karma:
noun
noun: karma
  1. (in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.
