Hello all,

2020 has been a very difficult year for me. I really shouldn’t complaint much, as I actually haven’t been very affected, but it has been a nerve wrecking year due to several difficult decisions and actions that this pandemic situation required.

Anyway and avoid having to go through some hard (to me) details… in order to restore a bit of very little mental sanity a film photographer has left :) I'll try to re-focus on my hobbies, namely photography.

The drive to go out and take some photos has not been there and I always excused myself with lack of time. So I have to find some motivation on a specific project that I must deliver and that I could plan ahead. I also have to take into account the lockdown and safety measures, so must find a way to do this even under physical movement limitations.

So I decided to force myself to use the gear I have collecting dust by committing to publish / share some small videos on Youtube, mostly pictures naturally.

Why Youtube? I’ll not be a youtuber, but I believe that creating a video with not only images but also some thoughts is a more involving process that just sharing images on Instagram (or similar). Could also help me with the story telling part of my photos, that I know is lacking, It might also made me appreciate more some cameras or lenses and eventually re-organize my gear. Honestly, sometimes more important that the result, I get pleasure from using nice cameras.

This will not replace posting photos in other places like here, as imho Youtube is not the best place for sharing pictures.

I’m posting this as if I don’t commit with this with anyone, I probably will never get this done or will give up on the first or second try. Apparently this is turning into a shameless request for subscribers, but at this point I believe that is important to keep me going with this “project”, felling that I have someone waiting for the new content I need to share. So if you have any interest in keeping track with some guy and its (mainly) film photos, I’d appreciate if you could follow and subscribe, like, comment, whatever. Thanks!

Good luck. All I can say is that everyone I know has had a hard time of it this past year. I know foreign exchange students who had to go home and then attend classes in other countries on Android apps, some using their phones. It's been difficult. Hang in. Having a project is helpful, anything that gets you out of your own skin and your own head and looking outward into the world. At least that is helpful to me.

Hi,

Thank you , appreciated!

Took me about 8 to 10 hours between learning and actually doing it...

As it was a first for me, I used what I was more familiar with: Microsoft Power Point... Used transitions and then set times and the sequence I wanted for each. There is an automation for the text effect, can be by letter (as I did on most "slides") or by word like on the cover.

After several tests I've exported to a video format. Just the music I had to include with the Windows Video Editor. I've also cropped the photos on Gimp and slightly adjusted the curves.

Now having a template, for sure 2 hours should be enough for a new one.

By the way a question/poll for all that would like to share, as this is subjective and I'm not sure if my personal preference suits the best for the majority: do you prefer the letter-by-letter animation or the word-by-word one? Which is more pleasant to follow?
