My husband was going to Vistek (local camera store) so I told him to pick me up a LX5 and he did. You've gotta love the guy. I've read (well, skimmed) the manual and am now waiting for the battery to charge. More after I've actually try to use it. Btw, I hold Shooter responsible for this. He whetted my appetite.

Excellent, Kathy! That's makes two of us - not as in your husband's buying me one, but in Don's influence.

I have to say that it's kind of interesting to see how many people on here of late are using this camera...or who are using its former version the LX3 or it's "clone" the Leica version.

Looking forward to your wonderful photos with this second camera of yours with an X in its name!

Reading Streetshooter's user review pushed me over the fence and I went to B+H to leave the store with a black LX5. I had the LX3 twice (bought, sold, bought, sold) and tried to like it, but it was too fiddly a camera for me.
The LX5 is a clear step up, a much more well rounded shooter, thanks to evolutionary improvements. This one, I really enjoy using. A keeper.

Hey Don
I've missed something here. Been away too long, I guess, didn't realize you had actually gotten this camera (LX5) Last I heard was your friend was getting it to review and you thought he was going to think many would return it.

Anyway..now up-to-date...do you like it? I love mine and am using it pretty consistently right along with the GF1. It's pretty interesting to see the differences between camera on the same shot. I love both and am glad I have them. What do you find it most useful for and what are you up to with it?

So now I'm responsible for some of youin's getting the LX5. Well, at least it's worth the weight.
I do love the camera. Like Karen, I also use the GF1 and find the 2 cameras work well together. Like mother and child.
The camera improves all the things on the LX3 that needed fixing.
I have just about finished the testing phase and so far it's passed with flying colors.
No doubt I'll keep it and let the love affair begin.
On a side note, the GF1 is sleeping as the LX5 is wide awake.

Maybe you should ask Pana for a commission. Eventually, the crowd is listening to what you are thinking about a camera. By the way, how is your DP1 doing?

Thanks for the props. Panny gives me enuff in their camera. I don't need any more than that.
I like to see people get along with their cameras. If I am partly responsible, great!
My friend just bought the Samsung and I had peek.
It failed the pocket test.
So I fully encourage the LX5 as a camera that brings happiness in such a small form along with great images.

The DP1 is ok as the DP2. In time they will awaken to the call.

I have a feeling that Kathy is in recovery, so to speak, from her trip to Italy. I've got a feeling she'll be posting some photos with this new camera soon, along with several with the X1.;)

I feel your pain, mmacleodbrown, however I circumvented "the pocket failure" by purchasing a nice carrying case, plus...being a woman, I usually have some kind of bag/purse with me. Where else can I carry my sunglasses, too?;)

Tell me about it, Im going to have to go with the S95, but have advised my missus to get a LX5, for the same reasons as you - she has a multitude of handbags crying out for one..

Went for a walk this morning with the LX5. I have set up a flickr account and will now try to show a picture here.

Didn't work. Will go back and reread instructions. Any advice will be appreciated.
