TL2 vs X100V

This ongoing lockdown thing has got me a bit bored so I ordered a new camera. Not that in any way I 'need' a new camera - I have 3 and an iPhone.

Thing is I'm a bit underwhelmed. The reviews are unanimous about how wonderful the X100V is and were mostly pretty scathing about the Leica TL2. And yet these are unedited
SOOC Jpegs from this morning.
Which do you prefer?

First X100V

I appreciate your time and value your thoughts

I thought the TL2 handled highlights a tiny bit better. But then I noticed that the shadows are darker, which means it exposed for the highlights and sacrificed the shadows. The X100V went the other way, but not by much. It doesn't look like either camera has an advantage with dynamic range.

If I had to make a choice, I prefer that the TL2 preserved the highlights than the X100V.

I think at this point of the game, one might consider buying a camera for the way in which one uses it or how it handles or the pleasure that it brings. There is nothing here IQ-wise to recommend either one of them over any of your other 3 cameras or likely your iPhone.

Thank you very much for your input. I chose the X100V because of its form-factor; size, built-in viewfinder, the dials layout and 35mm lens.
What this has shown me is that Leica sensors/ processing engines are years ahead and that critics hype some products that are just OK while slating others which are superior, probably because of price.
I must learn to trust my own judgement.

When I said earlier that I'd choose the TL2, I meant strictly based on the technical functionality after comparing those two photos above.

But in reality, I'd choose the X100V every single time because of its beautifully vintage stylings. And it also does photos adequately. That's the camera I'd want to take with me everywhere as my everyday carry. It's purely an illogical personal thing, it's not because I want to be seen with it (I don't give a shit about things like that).

I think the colors look more natural in the Leica shot but you could push colors or shadows/highlights to achieve similar looks in post. I have the Leica Q and the Fuji X100F. In the hand, the Leica feels more solid, provides a better manual focusing experience, has a sharper lens, and a slightly better EVF. But I agree with TraamisVOS about the vintage styling options, and love the built in ND filter of the Fuji. And of course, the Q has a 28 mm view compared to the 35 of the X100F. When I got the Q I thought I would sell the Fuji but I can't seem to part with it. I love both of them.

I can't see distinguishable differences given I only shoot raw and would clean up the files looking practically identical. I'd imagine it could only be the 'experience' that would make one choose a Leica TL/CL over a Fuji, I can't see that it would be better images.

Both seems great to me and will likely provide you years of photography. So it really comes down to the design and user preference.
which one is more fun to use? I would have a hard time choosing just one.
