Picked up a Tokina 11-16 2.8 to finish off my D500 kit
I was amazed to see you can still buy these cameras new. In production since 2013 or so? I was always tempted but with no Nikon lenses the buy in is a bit higher. I do like 50’s, however.
I was surprised to find out about this too, but at least Nikon Finland did withdraw Df from their online store last year. Up until then, both colors were available brand new for about 2000 EUR.I was amazed to see you can still buy these cameras new. In production since 2013 or so? And throw in the metering coupling shoe for better pre-Ai support, while at it.While there is Df stock still available, I think they ceased production some time ago. Prices are too high and are not looking to come down. Nikon need at least 1 camera with a meter coupling lever that can be moved out of the way. A Df2 with better AF, 24mp (perfectly adequate) and a much lower price would be nice.
Been there, done thatYou know, I've realized the worst thing you can do in this thread is to complain about something, carefully go through in your head why you don't like it, and in the process convince yourself to buy one.
Yes, indeed. Just that in my case I had already found out that I really liked the easiness to shoot with EF 50mm F1.2L and 5D Mark III. I just wrestled with the idea clearing my camera cabinet. And concentrating to photography instead of the gear. But because I don't adore the Canon as a brand, I had hard time to decide. Then I read some forum member in some other forum praising the missing features of Mark III which Mark IV has, and it was then decided. And I pulled the plug and bought new one, for the rest of my photo shooting time, I'd like to believe. (And I have other cameras to seek change from )You know, I've realized the worst thing you can do in this thread is to complain about something, carefully go through in your head why you don't like it, and in the process convince yourself to buy one.
Yep, this may be the most dangerous thread on the entire forum. "Personal gear review" follows closely on its heels. You know, I've realized the worst thing you can do in this thread is to complain about something, carefully go through in your head why you don't like it, and in the process convince yourself to buy one.
Big time. Learning how others are "culling their kit" often leads to the growth of mine.Yep, this may be the most dangerous thread on the entire forum. "Personal gear review" follows closely on it heels.
This is as hilarious as it is spot on! Case in point: I've been adamant about Sony not being for me for a while now, and specifically, the A7C being compromised in ways that are making it a no-go for me - yet, with the arrival of the small primes, it's the camera/lens combo I keep thinking about the most. Not really at a level I'd call G.A.S. (yet?), but I keep coming back to it - it'd make a fantastically portable, yet capable system ... very suitable for my usual needs. My attitude is quite pathetic, really - not the least because I'm probably right about my hunch, but also stubborn enough not to admit it ...You know, I've realized the worst thing you can do in this thread is to complain about something, carefully go through in your head why you don't like it, and in the process convince yourself to buy one.
The problem for me (or, more precisely, my wallet) with the A7C is that the tracking AF looks amazing in the videos I've seen, and I have grandkids. I could easily sell the A7Riii and buy one. This is as hilarious as it is spot on! That said, I acquired something completely different recently - also due to some images and impressions from this board ... I'll show it when it arrives.

I have an A7 II waiting to be replaced by ... something. I only keep it to get full use of the Sigma 45mm (of course, within the limits of the A7 II ...). I really have to stop reminding myself how much nicer that lens would look and work on an A7C ...The problem for me (or, more precisely, my wallet) wiht the A7C is that the tracking AF looks amazing in the videos I've seen, and I have grandkids. I will admit that others thinning their gear has thinned my wallet, as well. I have ended up with some nice deals on gently used gear.Big time. Learning how others are "culling their kit" often leads to the growth of mine.

Darn. At it again ...
