Canon Showcase EOS 5D Mark IV

I am VERY surprised there's not more in this thread.
The 5D4 has been regarded as one of Canon's best efforts.

I've had mine quite awhile.. I don't shoot with it because Ps 6 and Bridge cannot read the files. It is a slog to convert to DNG and then to CR2.. so much storage etc.
I don't really want to pay monthly for Ps software, so I've limited myself.. I know I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face. 👃

There are several very good free and open-source Raw Processor substitutes for Lightroom and Capture One.

I've been using "ART", Another Raw Therapee.

I downloaded it, have been using with the Nikon Z5 which is not supported by LR6.

The main website for ART:

My thread on copying Camera and Lens profiles from Lightroom to ART. And other useful hacks.

Yes, I've tried both Darktable and RawTherapee, and am impressed with both.

My main reason for keeping with CS6 is that PS is THE industry standard still,
and I'm nowhere near an expert with PS.
As such, if Googling for how-to's, I'm always going to find information
for PS above all else.

Craig, I also own licences for PS5 and PS6. I fought against the drip payment system for about 8 years.

However, after comparing costs for outright purchase of commercial grade software (e.g. Capture One Pro, DxO Labs, etc), to my absolute surprise, the Adobe Photographer's plan actually came out cheaper in both the short term and very long term!

So I am now a happy Adobe subscriber. And, it's a lot better than I expected.

However, one does need a pretty powerful computer to get the best out of it. I updated my 2010 box, which was well and truly passed it's use by date by the end of last year.

My new box specs are here:

Of course, I kept all my other big HDDs, monitor, keyboard and mouse. You can safely ignore the caveats some people raised - it absolutely flies. Handles 100 MPx RAW files from a Hasselblad X2D as easily as it does my 20 MPx E-M1 MkII files.

While that may be fine for you, John, I'm not a proponent of paying in perpetuity for software
(or anything else) which used to be a one-time purchase of major versions.
Life is costly enough as it is already.

This looks attractive to me, the more I look into it.
It seems the dev team is attempting to make it behave closer to PS and ACR,
which is a definite plus for myself.

I'll look into it some more, and likely download to give it a closer look.

Darktable is another good open source raw editor. Steep....steep learning curve however. Call me crazy but for "simple" raw processing, I still like Canon's DPP4.0.
Photography is only a hobby to me, and I have to carefully consider each expense. I've switched to Darktable when PS6 refused to open my new camera's raw files. In the beginning it was a bit all over the place, but the current version is an impressive raw converter, and more.

LOL,

It's definitely not a team. One very talented programmer created ART from Raw Therapee.

I've just started playing with it, although I've known about it for some time.

There is a discussion forum which can be helpful:
