GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

This Voigtländer Apo-Lanthar 2/35 didn't even make it to the "GAS: Please Share your Latest Desires Big and Small" thread. Last Friday I stumbled upon its review on FredMiranda and I asked my local dealer if he could get me one to try out. He acted swiftly, I went to the shop this morning, tried it out and took it home. On first impression it readily outperforms my Zeiss Loxia 2/35, we'll see how it will play out. Can't really imagine that I'll let the Loxia go, but who knows.

Finally received this near new E-M10 Mk4 after FedEx shuffled it around the country and California before delivering it. Odd, but the box looked untouched! As I'm slimming down my MFT gear, this little jewel will be my primary shooter. It has the perfect compliment of features for my needs. :2thumbs:

Unrealized setback......the in camera RAW processing has been "dumbed-down" similar to the latest E-PL series bodies. Grrrrrrrrr .......!
Maybe, hopefully, OMDS will correct this deficiency with a firmware update. :clapping:

Spoke too soon. So when I first turned the D 700 on and tried to take a shot, I got the FEE error. I looked it up, and I needed to put the lens at f22 so the camera could control the aperture. That worked at first, but the lens keeps getting physically stuck at f22. I have to disconnect and reconnect the lens until it works again. The body side lever for controlling aperture works just fine when the lens is off. Similarly, I can make the lens open up by flicking the complementary lever on the lens. And yes, I cleaned all the contacts. Do you think this is a body or lens issue? Just to note, the VF is obviously dark at f22 but the display shows the aperture changing when I turn the front dial on the body.

Hard to know without another lens. But I think it's a mechanical problem rather than an electronic one, and I suspect the lens. Do you have access to other F mount lenses? They don't need to be AF ones ...

When I read your post, I suddenly realized that I do work at a university and there was probably a F mount lens somewhere on campus. Someone one floor down had a D610 and his standard zoom worked just fine. A new 50 1.8D only costs $131 so I'll just go there. Probably. Unless I talk myself into the 1.4.

LOL I'm stuck in K-3 mk III pre-order hell (CONUS).

Silver Premium kits arrived and are being shipped, some people have already received their kit.

Black and Silver bodies arrived and are being shipped, some people have already received their camera.

Standard plain black premium kits - delayed. B&H says they don't know when they'll get them. ("Should" be in the 2 - 4 week window after they started taking pre-orders.) Still can't (won't) tell me if I might get on from the first or second or third shipments, or even if I'm high enough on the pre-order list to get one at all. People who've ordered from another large retailer and smaller camera stores don't seem to be having an issue with lack of information.

The 26th is a date I've seen bandied about with regard to the black kits, so I'll see what happens Monday. May end up ordering a body from someplace that has them in stock, and cancel the pre-order. I'd pick up the battery grip later.

:coffee-79:

Well, I bought a Nikon 50mm 1.8 G and tired it on the D700. It’s doing the same as the 50 1.8 D but without the aperture ring there can be no problems with f22. My current plan is to return the D700 and the 50 D, keep the G and look for another body. I like the way the images look so I have to try a working kit, right?

Silver was the correct choice, dude.

:p

Bummer. Hope your replacement body works correctly. D700 was a class-leader, still a good camera IMHO.

I had a weak moment yesterday and ordered a Funleader 18mm f/8 body cap lens based on a product-placed youtube video and an affiliate link. The deal was sealed when I wondered if they made a Leica M mount version and that's what they showcased first.

It is all probably a waste of money because I've been thinking about the well regarded CV 15/4.5.

But hey, a new lens for my Leica M in 20 months!

My plan to have a minimalist two lens kit got side tracked a little. I am trading the Evolv 200 with a friend locally for a Rokinon 12mm f2. So it may be a three lens kit. Although if I decide to not to keep it and sell it before the end of May when the 18mm 1.4 is supposed to ship. Then I would be back on track for a two lens kit 😁
