Woolsey Hall

This is a bicentennial buildings built in 1901. It is used extensively and primarily for official functions and musical events.

One of these photos is from a Pentax K10D DSLR and the other is from a newly acquired LX5. Preliminarily, I am pretty happy with the capabilities of compact.

Beautiful building and architecture - it's been a couple of years since I've been up there and I really should go visit and hit the museum...and take photographs.

If you want us to hazard a guess as to which is which, I'd guess the second was taken by your LX5. I'm glad you are preliminarily happy. I remember when I first got mine that I was put off by the Panasonic white balance, but I soon got it pretty well down how to "fix" it to my liking, woof.

Thanks BBW...

If you ever do come up to Yale, especially on a weekday, let me know. i work at Yale, and can get you into places you would not normally really be able to (or think to) go. I am an IT Architect by trade, but "real" architecture is one of my favorite subjects. Yale is truly the happy hunting ground...

Oh... and which museum? Peabody? the Art Museum? (Louis Kahn, Architect, first career building), or the British Center (Louis Kahn, last career building). Both of the latter have these outstanding stairwells that I love to shoot. You are allowed to shoot in the British Center, which is great...

Please do tell. There is something just a little off about the colors, and if you have a recipe I would love to play with it...

Kind regards,

woof, that's an awfully kind and enticing invitation. I may yet take you up on it! True, true...so many great museums, I think I was thinking of them all.:D

Well, re the LX5 - you might try starting a thread in the Panasonic/Leica fixed lens forum to get some real help...but I believe I tried "Auto Tone" in Lightroom first and went from there..it didn't always need it..sometimes just using the slider and making the picture colors less warm...that's if you use Lightroom?

I keep meaning to buy Lightroom and always some form of hardware purchase intervenes. Perhaps that will now be less the case going forward. I'll get there... for the time being I am using a mixed bag of many different tools...

There is nothing I enjoy more than walking 'round Yale taking photos... except walking around Yale with others taking photos. Heh... I'll be here.

I'll start a thread on LX5 WB and Color Recipes...

Been meaning to update this. The answer was in the photographs... Look at the columns... the bases... it has not snowed here yet in Connecticut. ;-)

In short, #1 was the LX-5 (in very inexperienced hands). #2 was a Pentax K10D with DA 15mm. Processing was my standard workflow in both cases for Architecture.
